In an increasingly demanding boating market, Magazzù confirms its unrivalled ability to combine Italian design, technical innovation and tailor-made customization. After years of consolidated experience with iconic and versatile models, the Sicilian boatbuilder brings its new vision of large maxi-RIBs into the spotlight, offering two interpretations of the same construction philosophy: the MX-15 Gran Coupé and the MX-15 Explorer.

With these two new models, Magazzù expands its range of high-end maxi-RIBs and underlines its vocation for meeting the expectations of a clientele that is ever more attentive to technological equipment and the emotional yachting experience. But the real strength of these two maxi-RIBs is space: within just 15 meters in length, they can comfortably accommodate up to 24 people, making it possible to enjoy fun days at sea with plenty of company, without giving anything up and while fully preserving the style and elegance that have always distinguished Magazzù creations. In this way, the Palermo-based yard strengthens its position on the international scene as a benchmark for sophisticated aesthetics, high performance at sea and extreme customization.

MX-15 Gran Coupé: elegance, comfort and performance in a 15-meter maxi-RIB

The MX-15 Gran Coupé represents the natural evolution of Magazzù’s successful Coupé line, designed as a next-generation maxi-RIB capable of redefining the concept of freedom at sea. With an overall length of 15.20 meters and a beam of 4.85 meters, this maxi-RIB stands out for its elegant, clean lines, the enlarged deckhouse and a hard top with tempered glass that enhances protection and comfort while cruising.

Onboard spaces are designed to enjoy the sea with maximum conviviality and relaxation: large sunbathing areas, lounge zones with convertible tables and refined teak details create a perfect balance between sportiness and comfort. The latest-generation stepped hull is engineered to ensure stable and efficient behavior at sea, optimizing the balance between power and fuel consumption.

magazzu-MX-15-Gran-Coupe

Even from a performance point of view, the MX-15 Gran Coupé certainly does not disappoint. The model is available with different propulsion configurations (outboard or sterndrive) and can reach a top speed of 50 knots thanks to a total output of up to 1,800 hp. The large capacity of the fuel and water tanks (1,000 and 350 liters respectively) and CE category B certification make this hull suitable both for day cruising and for multi-day adventures in complete autonomy. With this model, Magazzù delivers yet another masterpiece, looking toward the creation of ever larger, more refined and exclusive boats.

MX-15 Explorer: the art of Magazzù’s bespoke boating

If the MX-15 Gran Coupé is already a refined model in its own right, with the MX-15 Explorer Magazzù takes customization to truly tailor-made levels. This maxi-RIB is part of the Sicilian brand’s Signature Collection, a genuine creative journey in which every detail is designed to measure for the owner, like a couture garment for those who want their boat to tell their own story and express their personality.

MX-15

The MX-15 Explorer retains the dimensions and all the core technical features of the MX-15 Gran Coupé – such as the stepped hull and power of up to 1,800 hp – but stands out for its highly customized development process and for some refined aesthetic differences, starting with the striking reverse windshield. Born from a direct dialogue between owner and shipyard, in the MX-15 Explorer every choice – from the interior layout to the materials used for the finishes – is treated as an exclusive project. The result is a one-off, unrepeatable maxi-RIB, perfect for those who do not settle for a standard boat but want a true personal expression on the sea.

This philosophy translates into a model that combines high performance, all-encompassing comfort and distinctive style, while fully preserving Magazzù’s nautical DNA. Thanks to adaptable engine configurations and a versatile usage concept, the MX-15 Explorer is designed for those who see boating as an experience of personal exploration, without compromise.

MX-15-EXPLORER-2

The forward-raked windshield that makes the difference

In the design of modern maxi-RIBs, the windshield is no longer just a protective element, but a functional component of the onboard architecture. For this reason, Magazzù has chosen to enhance the Explorer version of the MX-15 with a windshield raked forward, representing an evolution compared to the traditional aft-raked solution. This innovation delivers tangible benefits in terms of comfort, safety and overall cruising quality.

From an aerodynamic standpoint, the forward inclination allows the airflow to be intercepted more directly, progressively deflecting it upward and to the sides. This reduces turbulence around the console area and limits wind impact on the helmsman and passengers, especially when cruising upwind or at higher cruising speeds. A similar effect can be seen in spray management, as the forward-raked windshield works as an active barrier, pushing water and spray away from the helm station. Compared to an aft-raked windshield, the forward-raked solution reduces the likelihood of water being drawn inside by moving air, keeping the deck drier even in rougher sea conditions.

running

Visibility also benefits from this configuration, as the glass angle reduces reflections and glare, providing a cleaner, more continuous view of the horizon. This detail has a direct impact on safety and helm quality, particularly during long passages.

The strengths of the MX-15 Explorer’s windshield also extend to comfort. Reduced direct pressure from wind and water helps limit fatigue for the person at the helm, making driving more natural and relaxed. This is a particularly valuable advantage on boats designed for transfers, fast cruising or extended use, such as the MX-15 Explorer. In addition, the forward-raked windshield integrates more effectively with the T-top and hard top, creating a better-protected and more coherent helm area from a design standpoint. The result is a more modern, technical design language inspired by the automotive world, where aesthetics and functionality move in the same direction.

MX-15-EXPLORER

Last but not least, a benefit that is often less obvious but extremely relevant concerns integration with the T-top. The forward-raked windshield allows the usable surface of the T-top to be set further aft and expanded, making it more regular and structurally exploitable. This translates into greater possibilities for installing solar panels, SUP boards, sports equipment, antennas and accessories, without compromising the boat’s aesthetic and functional balance. A solution that meets the needs of more advanced use, focused on autonomy and versatility. In short, compared to the traditional aft-raked solution, the forward-raked windshield represents a conscious design choice: it improves comfort underway, optimizes wind and spray management, and helps define a more advanced and refined driving experience.

A fast cruiser designed for passionate, experienced owners who look for real thrills and excitement at the helm. ICE 54 Suite is the new creation from Ice Yachts, an evolution of its best-selling ICE 54, built with outstanding craftsmanship and innovative materials, paired with finishes worthy of an 80-foot sailing yacht.

With the original ICE 54, the shipyard had already introduced a new generation of ultra-modern yachts that combine performance and onboard comfort, ideal both for demanding cruises and for taking part in regattas and sailing competitions. ICE 54 Suite takes this concept even further, bringing to the market the prototype of a perfect fast cruiser – once again designed by Felci Yacht Design – that enhances the comfort, luxury, and interior livability features typical of ICE’s smaller models.

ice-54-suite-bow

The ICE 54 Suite in detail

The shipyard’s trademark features — the scimitar-shaped bow and the “smiling” stern — come directly from the ICE 33 racer. From a hydrodynamic perspective, the waterlines and appendages promise outstanding performance, both when sailing upwind at very tight angles and when planing at high speed downwind, thanks to a generous maximum beam of 4.65 meters and broad, powerful aft sections.

The numbers of the ICE 54 Suite are impressive: 13 tons of displacement (25% less than the category average), nearly 160 square meters of upwind sail area (rising to 400 square meters downwind), and outstanding safety thanks to high form stability and the weight-to-keel ratio. The hull and deck are laminated in a female mold using hybrid glass and carbon fibers with epoxy infusion; the carbon structures are vacuum-laminated and become one piece with the hull and deck. These choices, besides keeping weight down, give the boat exceptional solidity and strength, able to handle repeated loads and heavy stresses during the most demanding passages.

ice-54-suite-sailing

Another strenght of the ICE 54 Suite is the versatility offered by its keel configurations: choosing a lifting keel allows to adjust the draft from nearly 3.7 meters to 2.3 meters, while the standard keel version ranges from 2.5 to about 2.8 meters, allowing the yacht to adapt to any need or cruising ground. These options are tied to optimizing the bulb weight, which is specifically sized and CNC-machined. The Weldox high-strength steel fin and the CNC-machined lead bulb also reduce the percentage of ballast weight, lowering the yacht’s total displacement while maintaining the same righting moment.

ice-yachts

Endless combinations for the interior spaces

Another strong point of the ICE 54 Suite is its spacious, comfortable, and highly customizable interiors. Owners can choose from multiple layouts, a wide range of finish materials, and countless details. The large forward master cabin easily accommodates a full-size bed accessible from both sides, just like at home. Alternatively, the owner can opt for the version with the bathroom located forward instead of the classic cabin.

interior

Ice Yachts has also paid special attention to the innovative galley layout, featuring a practical island that creates a pleasant sense of continuity with the dinette’s living area. Another standout feature of the ICE 54 Suite is the expanded aft volume, which makes it possible to have an extra-large bathroom with a separate shower serving the guest cabins.

Air conditioning comes as standard, while the wide, bright lacquered surfaces reinterpret the typical interior style, aiming for modern simplicity without compromising functionality. The galley’s clean, contemporary design includes a full-height domestic-style refrigerator and a state-of-the-art island equipped with a dishwasher, offering a large work surface and an elegant, well-organized space that feels like a home kitchen even onboard.

ICE-54-Suite-galley

The deck reflects the signature lines of Felci Yacht Design, combining simplicity with style, modernity with efficiency, comfort with versatility. Aft of the helm stations there is a large relaxation area with direct access to the sea through the practical fold-down stern platform, which doubles as a swim platform and gives access to the garage, large enough to store a 2.80-meter tender without deflating it. The cockpit, featuring wide benches and comfortable sea-keeping backrests, is distinctly oversized, providing not only great protection while sailing but also room for a large dining table.

The large side windows enhance the connection with the surrounding environment, making life on board brighter and more enjoyable. The deck equipment, designed to be handled even by a small crew, never interferes with onboard comfort, which is further ensured by meticulous attention to detail. High-quality components that reflect the shipyard’s elevated standards include the flush deck hatches, the dodger recessed into the coachroof, the cockpit-floor locker for hiding all halyards, and the dedicated liferaft compartment. The mast—also available in a high-modulus version—and the boom are made of carbon as standard, autoclave-cured and supplied by leading manufacturers. Carbon standing rigging is also available. The sail plan features a very low-overlap genoa, no running backstays, and shrouds attached directly to the hull, while the structural tanks for water and fuel are positioned under the floorboards to lower the center of gravity and increase storage space.

In conclusion, we can say that the ICE 54 Suite offers the comfort and space of a 60-footer just a few years ago, combined with the agility of a highly responsive 50-footer. Thanks to the technologies used—such as lightweight panels—the shipyard has achieved significant weight savings compared to a traditional build, without sacrificing the quality of the carpentry, both in the refinement of the finishes and in the excellence of the details.

Using artificial intelligence to create an immersive virtual boat that clients can explore, allowing them to touch first-hand their custom project even before it is built. This is the extraordinary innovation introduced by Custom Boat, which recently launched an advanced AI system to offer its owners the possibility to experience and perceive their yacht in an immersive way even during the design phase.

“Custom Boat builds only fully bespoke vessels, so we have always needed to present ideas to our clients in the most effective way possible. With this tool, we offer the opportunity to emotionally step inside their boat before it is built – explains Mauro Corvisieri, CEO of Custom Boat – Thanks to artificial intelligence, we go beyond traditional renderings and instead create an ultra-detailed immersive virtual environment”. More specifically, this technology integrates tools such as Unreal Engine and Unity 3D for immersive environments; BIM modeling and augmented reality to configure every detail; touch tables and digital showrooms to share the project in real time from anywhere in the world. In this way, every owner can actively participate in the project, even remotely. And every choice is no longer imagined, but truly experienced.

The idea was developed in collaboration with the boatyard’s designers Paolo Tamburini and Gabriele Teruzzi. A concrete example is the immersive AI experience of the new C-Tender 60, designed in collaboration with Tamburini and available in fly or open versions: a new way to connect with one’s future yacht, seeing it, understanding it, and almost touching it. This is clearly shown in the following video.

This innovation represents the next step after what we launched last year with the new online nautical configurator, which allows customers to set up a boat exactly as they wish, from colors to upholstery and even textures – continues Corvisieri – All with the highest level of detail. However, that platform concerns the models of the C-Tender line which, although highly customizable, are still based on predefined hulls. The C-Boat line, instead, includes fully custom units over 25 meters, designed from scratch with the client, from stern to bow. In this context, the power of artificial intelligence makes all the difference”.

Thanks to this technology and to new-generation digital models, Custom Boat offers its clients an experience that goes beyond simple project visualization. AI makes it possible not only to explore one’s yacht virtually in every detail before it is built, but also to customize spaces, materials, and furnishings in real time with extremely realistic results, while experiencing an emotional and immersive environment in which every design choice takes shape right before their eyes. Ultimately, these are no longer simple technical drawings or static images: today, Custom Boat clients can walk through their future saloon, watch light move across surfaces, perceive real proportions, and discover every detail as if they were already on board.

custom-boat-isola

We launched this tool just a few days ago and we’ve already received extremely positive feedback – concludes the CEO of Custom Boat – We are already working on the first two boats for two clients: the Isola 86 for a Mexican owner and the Domus 90 for a U.S. owner with specific space requirements. We gathered their preferences and created the immersive experience, and they were thrilled. We are learning day by day to use this tool with increasing precision, and we are ready to open new frontiers in the yachting world”.

The global leader in marine equipment could not miss Metstrade 2025, the most important international show dedicated to nautical gear, which opens tomorrow and runs until November 20 at the RAI in Amsterdam. We’re talking about Quick Group, the Italian company specializing in the production and supply of equipment for boats, yachts and superyachts, which will be unveiling major new products at the Dutch fair. Taking center stage will be the full range of Quick Gyro gyroscopic stabilizers, featuring significant technical improvements as part of an ongoing innovation program for its stabilization systems.

This year, Metstrade is a unique opportunity for Quick Group. The company’s team will also be available at the show to illustrate the recent developments of the revolutionary SeaCentric System, a solution that goes beyond traditional stabilization functions by integrating gyros, fins, trim-correction devices and other control systems developed by Xenta.

Quick Gyro Advanced Stability

As mentioned above, taking center stage at Metstrade will be the entire Quick Gyro stabilizer product line-up, showcasing not only Quick Group’s advanced stabilization solutions but also the latest refinements made focusing on mechanical, electronic, and dynamic control aspects.

The development of the Quick Gyro stabilizer range is something we have really committed to – states Lorenzo Mongiardo, Chief Innovation Officer at Quick Group – Although the updated units may appear aesthetically the same, we have fine-tuned every aspect of the internal engineering and design covering the mechanical, electrical and control aspects, with the goal of achieving greater system efficiency and delivering an overall improvement to a product that is already well established on the market”.

The primary goal of Quick Group has been to further enhance overall system efficiency, concentrating research and development efforts toward five key areas. Noise reduction and weight optimization are ongoing improvement processes that began with previous versions and continue to be refined, while new developments focus on optimizing electrical absorption parameters, reducing start-up times, and developing advanced control algorithms. The overall result is a significant improvement in the Quick Gyro’s global performance, with benefits in terms of efficiency, versatility, operational readiness, and control precision. From optimised flywheel mass to improved efficiency and evolved control algorithms, the updated Quick Gyro range boasts increased stabilization capability, reduced power draw, increased electrical efficiency, and optimized spool-up time – achieving more than 30 percent reduction in the time required for the stabilizer to be ready from power-on in the case of the X13, X16 and X19 unit.

stabilizers

“We used a range of simulations that allowed us to identify the source of mechanical noise, and that has allowed us to develop and introduce components that optimise damping and reduce vibration transmission – enthuses Mongiardo. By optimising the flywheel mass, we achieved the best in class spool up time on the market. We have worked on the electrical parameters, implementing updated power management algorithms that have led to reduced current peaks and a more stable and predictable absorption curve, improving compatibility with onboard electrical networks and overall system efficiency. An updated ECO function further supports energy optimisation, and we have developed new algorithms for the flywheel acceleration control logic and torque control calibration leading to the fastest spool-up time on the market,” he continues. “Finally, we have added new control algorithms based on advanced dynamic models and adaptive compensation techniques, with particular attention to multigyro applications designed for multihull vessels or boats with limited installation space”.

SeaCentric System: the power of integration

Alongside the Quick Gyro updates, the Quick Group team will be available at the Dutch fair to discuss the evolution of the SeaCentric system. The SeaCentric platform brings together multiple components and adds smart control algorithms – for example, incorporating Quick Gyros, Intercepta IN and X series and Viator fins using SeaCentric delivers the ultimate stabilization and ride control by combining the best aspects of each system at rest and underway. But SeaCentric also extends to incorporating other Quick Group products such as Xenta’s propulsion, steering, and maneuvering controls, and Quick Nautical Equipment thrusters into a coordinated platform.

Seacentric System

This approach is really the future, and we see every day that the market is going in this direction – says Mongiardo – The key is to give the operator the interoperability of all the boat’s control systems, managed via the onboard Multi-Functional Display (MFD) incorporating stabilization, propulsion solutions, maneuver, thrusters, and attitude controls. Through these innovations and our ongoing development process, Quick Group reinforces its role as a reference not only in advanced stabilization technology but also in providing modern marine solutions that combine engineering, design, and reliability”.

Quick Group’s brands at Metstrade 2025

But Quick Group’s impressive presence at Metstrade doesn’t end there. In the Superyacht Hall, Hall 8 booth 550 will play host to the Quick Group brands Sanguineti, XENTA and Nemo. A superyacht sector stalwart, Sanguineti designs and crafts a wide selection of hydraulic and electric motion systems including gangways, ladders and platforms. XENTA, meanwhile, is a leader in the development of sophisticated software that enhances the intelligence and connectivity of onboard control systems, optimising boat manoeuvres and navigation. Nemo specialises in tailor-made solutions for powerboats, offering an extensive range of products including doors, portlights, hatches, non-hinged and flybridge hatches, and many other customised components.

Ultimately, the place not to miss at Metstrade 2025 is Hall 1, stands 01.153 and 01.251, where visitors will find a complete display representing the entire Quick Group universe. This area will not only feature the brands mentioned above but will also showcase the complete range of Quick Nautical Equipment essential products from anchors, windlasses, battery chargers and inverters, to water heaters, and electronic controls, with particular focus on the QSY brushless series QNE thrusters now featuring the CAN BUS protocol through the new PDC series of controls and fully integrating with both the Mercury Marine Joystick Piloting system and the Volvo Penta Assisted Docking system. Alongside this, Quick Marine Lighting will present its collection of premium lighting fixtures, offering high-quality and cutting-edge lighting solutions designed specifically for marine environments. The entire MC² range of onboard stabilization systems will also be on display, completing Quick Group’s extensive and integrated offering at Metstrade 2025.

Moreover, the area will include a Lounge space where visitors will be invited to meet the Group and engage with our experts to learn more about the company’s products, innovations, and future developments. The entire Quick Group team will be on site to provide detailed and professional answers to any questions, with representatives from the Italian headquarters as well as from Quick’s USA and UK subsidiaries, together with the experts from XENTA, Sanguineti, and Nemo, ensuring a complete and personalized experience for every visitor.

It is a major sale, one worthy of a grand announcement. Ocean Alexander has delivered the final, magnificent unit of its limited Explorer series, the Ocean Alexander 28E. The yacht, renowned for its exceptional quality, unmatched comfort, and generous space and volume, was chosen by a couple represented by Michael Tyrrell of the MarineMax Yacht Center in Pompano Beach, Florida. For the owners, this is their first Ocean Alexander: after considering various other brands and conducting numerous sea trials, they turned to the American shipyard without a moment’s hesitation.

The large multi-functional flex room of the Ocean Alexander 28E will serve as an office during longer periods away from the dock, supporting extended cruising. The yacht will be kept in Florida with itineraries across the islands and seasonal trips that may include the Northeast.

We are sure it will attract more than a few envious looks: with this delivery, in fact, the shipyard has completed the sales of what was originally conceived as a limited series, created to enhance its exclusivity.

This transaction was a true team effort – said Michael Tyrrell, Yacht and Brokerage Sales Executive, MarineMax Yacht Center – From the first conversation at a show to delivery day, the 28E kept rising to the top for its engineering, elegant designer furnishings, and space planning that works for real life. The owners told me, this is my first Ocean Alexander purchased but not my last”.

The Explorer series captured a clear market desire for greater volume, flexible exterior zones, and effortless operation – added Dan Mundy, Head of Global Operations at Ocean Alexander – It is fitting that the series concludes with clients who took the time to compare the field and chose Ocean Alexander for the total experience, from design to delivery. We are grateful to MarineMax and our commissioning partners for the collaboration that brought this yacht home”.

Another important acquisition has taken place in the yachting world, confirming the sector’s ongoing dynamism. The key player is Tankoa Yachts, the Ligurian shipyard specialized in building custom superyachts, which recently announced it has taken over Otam’s business branch. The operation includes both the historic production site in Genoa and the brand, while the pier activities in Santa Margherita Ligure remain under the ownership.

The acquisition of Otam by Tankoa Yachts marks another successful step in the shipyard-boutique’s ambitious expansion project, unveiled earlier this year.

The OTAM facility covers approximately 4,800 sqm of covered areas, 3,300 sqm of open-air spaces and a water basin of nearly 10,000 sqm, complete with existing infrastructure and operational workshops. Tankoa will undergo a restructuring and upgrading program that includes extending concessions, consolidating and reorganizing these areas, and building new production sheds in line with the shipyard’s current needs.

tankoa-yachts

The operation goes beyond facilities and infrastructure: the OTAM workforce is being integrated into the Tankoa Yachts team, ensuring job continuity while enriching the shipyard with new skills and experience. The OTAM brand, with its long-standing heritage and solid international reputation, thus becomes part of Tankoa’s portfolio. The shipyard is committed to preserving its legacy, while defining the strategy that best aligns with its long-term yachting production vision.

otam genoa

With this transaction, Tankoa Yachts further strengthens its bond with the city of Genoa, reaffirming its role as an ambassador of Italian yacht building excellence and consolidating its presence in the region”, says the company in an official note.
