A range designed for every way of experiencing the sea

The new Aurion Line includes seven models from 7.80 to 12 meters, divided into four Open versions and three Cabin versions. It’s a collection that covers day cruising, family outings, and mid-range cruising, all crafted with the care typical of Mediterranean design.

  • 7.80 Open Family – 7.63 meters, up to 16 passengers, max power 350 HP.
  • 8.50 Open Sunbed / Open Family – 8.45 meters, up to 20 passengers, max power 400 HP.
  • 9.50 Open Family / Cabin Family – 9.63 meters, up to 18 passengers, max power 700 HP
  • 40 Cabin Sunbed / 40 Cabin Family – 11.95 meters, up to 22 passengers, max power 1050 HP

More specifically, the Sunbed versions focus on relaxation with large sunbathing areas, while the Family versions offer convivial spaces designed to enjoy the boat with friends and family. The owner can choose the layout that best suits his style — sporty, versatile, or cruise-oriented.

Premium Materials and High-Performance Hulls

The Aurion Line confirms Selva Marine’s commitment to combining elegance with substance. All models feature NEOPRENE–HYPALON 1670 dtex tubes and a tough, deep-V fiberglass hull with a double-molded structure designed to ensure stability and safety even in rough seas. The standard hull color — a bright, clean white — highlights the line’s contemporary identity. Smartly designed spaces and generous range make these RIBs real travel companions. Standard features include:

  • Fuel tanks from 190 to 800 liters, integrated and CE-certified
  • Freshwater tanks up to 200 liters and pre-installation for black water
  • Fully equipped console, premium upholstery, fiberglass stern platforms with ladder
  • Luxury cabins with separate bathrooms on the 9.50- and 12-meter models

Rounding out the setups is a wide choice of options designed for longer stays on board: electric windlass, stereo system, refrigerators from 30 to 65 liters, water heater, air conditioning, and much more.

Aurion Line: the debut in Paris

The new Aurion Line was created with peace of mind in focus: all models feature CE C/B certification, multi-compartment tubes, and some of the highest load capacities in the segment. This approach reflects the shipyard’s long experience in the world of inflatable boats. The new range marks an important step forward for Selva Marine, having expanded interior space, cruising range, and overall finishing quality, all while placing the owner, their family, and their guests at the center of the experience.

The rendez-vous is at the 2025 Paris Boat Show, where the Aurion Line will be on display from November 26-30 — an unmissable opportunity to discover firsthand Selva Marine’s vision of contemporary boating.

There are shipyards that don’t follow trends—they create them. Scanner Marine is one of these. For over thirty years, Donato Montemitro and his team have been writing the history of the Italian maxi-RIB, bringing into the luxury inflatable segment a culture of design and build quality that has, over time, turned every model into an icon. From The International Yachting Media’s test center, located in Marina Porto Antico in Genoa, we’re lucky to climb aboard for an exclusive preview of their latest creation: the Scanner Envy 1300, a vessel that erases the boundary between RIB and boat, blending the sporting soul of the former with the refinement of the latter. The goal is ambitious: to combine the power of two 425-horsepower outboards with the livability of a twelve-meter cruiser. The result, as we will discover, is simply astonishing.

Scanner Envy 1300 Sea Trial

The day is perfect for putting to the test a hull as significant as that of the Scanner Envy 1300: the sea is almost calm, with a slight residual swell and a clear light that highlights the sharp lines of this maxi-RIB. At the stern, two Mercury Verado V10 engines delivering 425 horsepower each promise true sports-boat performance, for a total output of 850 horsepower.

Once we leave the berth, we move at idle speed at around 3.5 knots, and right away the boat’s balance is evident. Despite the absence of stabilizers, the boat stays steady on the water, with no rolling or pitching. This directional stability is an early indication of the hull’s quality.

A touch of throttle is enough to discover how responsive it is: at 14 knots we are already on the plane—almost instantly. No excessive bow rise, no hesitation: the transition from displacement to planing is smooth and progressive, exactly what you’d expect from a refined design.

We bring the speed up to 20 knots, the most natural cruising speed for a boat of this size. The GPS shows 4.8 liters per nautical mile, just over 90 liters per hour total consumption. These figures reveal a rare efficiency for a cabin boat over thirteen meters, a sign that the hull is working exactly as it should, with optimal trim and impeccable weight distribution.

scanner envy 1300 sea trial

We gradually increase the revs, reaching around 30 knots. Here, the Scanner Envy 1300 confirms its dual soul: sporty yet composed. At the helm, the feeling is one of great control; the bow cuts forward precisely, and the boat remains unfazed even when crossing more pronounced waves. Fuel consumption remains low—about 5.1 liters per nautical mile—and the overall impression is that of a craft designed to cover distances with ease, even at a brisk pace.

Then, inevitably, comes the moment for full throttle. The levers push the two V10s forward, and the response is instantaneous: 40 knots, then 41, up to a top speed of 41.9 knots at 6,530 rpm. Even at this extreme speed, comfort remains impressive: the boat stays composed, the hull cuts through the water smoothly, and the impact on the waves is absorbed without bouncing or sharp noises. The designer’s expert touch is clearly felt.

side view

Turning performance is another strength of this boat: at 30 knots, without reducing throttle, just turn the wheel and the Envy 1300 dives into the curve decisively, leaning just enough but without losing grip or widening the turn. Counter-turning, it proves just as precise, tracing clean arcs even at high speeds. The G-forces are noticeable, but always within an environment of total control.

At 25 knots, the wake becomes flat and clean, a sign of excellent hydrodynamic efficiency. This is the ideal speed for long cruises: 4.3 liters per nautical mile, great range, and very high comfort. It’s the perfect compromise between performance and fuel consumption. We straighten up and cross our own waves: the hull enters softly, cuts through the water, and continues without vibrations. Even when the sea becomes slightly choppier, the boat maintains the composure of a much larger hull. By the end of the test, the feeling is of having in your hands a Maxi-RIB capable of combining power, elegance, and safety.

The Scanner Envy 1300 in detail

At the stern, Scanner Marine’s work reveals all of its design intelligence. Despite the presence of the two large outboards, the aft platform is wide, usable, and functions as a true beach club: perfect for relaxing at anchor or for easy access to the water.

A comfortable central passage leads to the convivial area, where two large side sunpads precede a U-shaped dinette that can accommodate up to six people. Aft of the T-top, a fully equipped bar unit with sink, induction cooktop, and a generously sized refrigerator turns this area into a perfect space for outdoor living, even during longer stops. Everything is designed for comfort and functionality, without sacrificing elegance or clean lines.

Scanner Envy 1300 helm station

Under the large T-top, solidly integrated into the structure, the helm station is a concentration of ergonomics and rationality. Three adjustable standing chairs allow for both seated and leaning navigation, while the instrumentation—joystick, throttles, wheel, and bow thruster—is all perfectly within reach. The overall impression conveys that sense of total control that only a well-designed layout can offer.

The wide, protected side decks of the Scanner Envy 1300 lead to the bow, where a second large sunpad opens up, complete with two forward-facing seats and handrails on both sides. The spaces here are incredible for a boat just 13 meters long: the feeling is that of being on a much larger yacht.

Below deck, the concept of space is redefined. The interior height is remarkable, and the environments are designed to offer yacht-level comfort. At the center of the cabin, a king-size double bed dominates the space, flanked by two opposing sofas that enhance livability. To port, a cabinet with ample storage; to starboard, a bathroom with a separate shower of almost domestic proportions. Materials, finishes, and color combinations reveal the meticulous attention to detail that has always distinguished the Scanner brand.

Solemar is making a comeback on the international stage with a renewed range that, from the compact SX25 to the high-tech SE42, perfectly embodies the shipyard’s DNA: superior quality, functional design, and a constant eye toward the future. Sharing this vision with us is Francesco Ribolini, who has led the brand’s relaunch with a clear vision and a strategy aimed at consolidating Solemar’s position in the premium maxi-rib segment.

Solemar SX25
SX25

Solemar SX25: the entry-level model that doesn’t compromise on excellence

With the debut of the SX25, Solemar stays true to its core values. “Our goal – explains Ribolini – is not to create a low-cost product, but to make quality accessible. We developed a complete, well-optimized basic setup that allows us to offer a more competitive entry price”. The result is a boat that delivers the brand’s signature features in a compact, versatile version, designed as the first step in a loyalty path that naturally leads to larger, more fully equipped models.

SE42
SE42

Solemar SE42: uncompromised technology and comfort

The new SE42 marks a turning point—a maxi-rib that combines the easy handling typical of RIBs with the space and comfort of a cruising boat. “The challenge was to keep a real tubular, large and functional, one that actually works while underway and isn’t just a design feature”, explains Ribolini. This led to the creation of a versatile hull designed for high power and optimized around the Mercury V12 600 HP engine, featuring a yacht-style interior layout with two double cabins, a bathroom with separate shower, and surprising liveability.

Solemar SE30: the perfect balance

Between the dynamic SX25 and the flagship SE42, Solemar introduces the SE30—a model designed to stand out for its smart use of space. “At the same size, cabin RIBs often offer limited livability – Rebolini notes – but with the SE30 we created a 9.90-meter boat capable of offering four real berths, with a convertible bow dinette, a transversal aft bed, and a spacious bathroom”. A unique concept in the high-end market, perfectly suited to the new needs of modern boating: outdoor freedom and below-deck comfort.

solemar SE30

Customization and bespoke luxury

In the world of luxury, customization is now essential—and Solemar knows it well. In addition to its “Choose your mood” color collection, the brand has recently launched an online configurator that allows customers to tailor their boats to their preferences. “Those who choose Solemar are buying a luxury product – says Ribolini – We offer predefined configurations consistent with the brand’s identity, but we also give customers the freedom to customize materials, finishes, and details. And if someone has special requests, we’re always ready to meet them”.

Growing markets and new routes

Since 2022, the shipyard has rebuilt its sales network, recording steady growth. The Mediterranean remains its beating heart, with strong dynamism in the Tyrrhenian area and Sardinia, a favorite destination for Italian boaters. But expansion doesn’t stop there: Solemar is now looking closely at the Balkans, Greece, Turkey, and the Spanish market, without overlooking Northern Europe. “Starting from Italy, we’re expanding rapidly”, confirms Ribolini.

Scanner Marine does it again. In a world premiere, the shipyard led by the Montemitro family reveals, exclusively for The International Yachting Media, some details of the new Envy 1300, the latest star in the Envy range. A maxi rib designed to fill the gap between the Envy 1200 and the Envy 1400, with the 1500 remaining the undisputed flagship. A model that not only broadens the lineup of the shipyard but also redefines the concept of balance between power, comfort, and design.

scanner envy 1300

Envy 1300, the missing link

The Envy 1300 is not just a new addition: it’s the piece that completes an already iconic family. More compact than the 1400 model but with more breadth than the 1200, it represents the perfect choice for those seeking sleek lines, generous spaces, and top-level performance without sacrificing agility. A move that further strengthens Scanner Marine’s position in the maxi rib market, where the brand has established itself as a benchmark of innovation and prestige.

Design down to the finest detail

Explaining the project is Fabio Montemitro, Sales Director and son of founder Donato: “On the Envy 1300 we worked extensively on the deckhouse and console to deliver superior livability”. The results are clear: clean lines, an elegant silhouette, and spaces optimized to make the most of every inch available on board. At both bow and stern, two large sundecks dominate, designed for relaxing cruises or long days at sea. The architecture remains true to the Envy philosophy, blending aesthetics with functionality.

Envy 1300: hull and performance

The deep V-hull with straight bow is a Scanner Marine trademark. A technical choice that ensures stability, control, and performance even in demanding conditions. But the real innovation is in the engines: the Envy 1300 will be the first model worldwide to feature a pair of brand-new Mercury 425HP outboards, destined to set a new benchmark in the sector. Options abound: twin or triple outboards, or stern-drive gasoline or diesel solutions, for a maximum power output of around 1,500 HP.

A constantly evolving range

With the debut of the Envy 1300, Scanner Marine strengthens and broadens an already impressive lineup. From the 1100 to the 1500, now including the new 1300 and the 1400, the Envy family stands out as one of the most complete and ambitious on the market. A growth path that once again places Scanner Marine among the most visionary and dynamic shipyards on the international boating scene.

Halma Rib needs no introduction. The Sicilian shipyard has always stood out for the design and quality of its high-end RIBs, known and appreciated worldwide. With the Halma Rib HR25, it has maintained the high standards we’ve come to expect—while still managing to surprise us. This is the brand’s new model and the entry-level option in its range, which we tested from Mondello to Palermo. In the video below, you can discover all the features and performance capabilities of this extraordinary RIB, which combines modern lines with advanced technical solutions.

Designed to offer comfort, safety, and high performance, the Halma Rib HR25 is suited for both recreational and professional use. It’s the smallest model in the HR lineup, but at just 8.10 meters, it offers the same comforts as its bigger sibling, the HR30, following in its footsteps when it comes to luxurious and elegant design.

This RIB’s innovations are evident even before it hits the water. The Halma Rib HR25 features a maximum beam of 3 meters, but with deflated tubes it can be easily trailered—making it convenient not only for use near home but also for transporting to explore new destinations.

Halma Rib HR25 Sea Trial

We begin our test by leaving the harbor with the engines at idle, around 1000 RPM and 4 knots. The sea is slightly choppy, with waves about half a meter high, and as soon as we speed up, the Halma Rib HR25 starts cruising without any issues. We pick up speed and the transition to planing is instantaneous: in a moment, we reach and surpass 12 knots, which is the speed at which the Halma Rib HR25 gets on plane. As you can see in the video, the boat levels out on the water and glides very well, with a wide, open wake — a sure sign of a hull that isn’t dragging.

We try accelerating a bit more and reach 20 knots at 4000 RPM, but the Halma Rib HR25 continues to cruise calmly and steadily, lowering its bow. With just a slight trim adjustment, the ride becomes even more comfortable. Even at 25 knots, navigation remains smooth and pleasant. Now, we want to see how the rib behaves in a turn; so, without slowing down, we steer to the left. The boat stays on its path without the slightest instability: it’s almost unbelievable how well this rib performs, even when pushed to extreme angles. It feels like riding a jet ski.

We counter-steer at 18–20 knots, and the directional stability is flawless — even hands-free (with the safety kill switch always attached, of course!): the boat sticks to a straight line, and we’re amazed at how fun and stable it is. Even with a sharp lean to the left, the Halma Rib HR25 keeps cruising calmly and smoothly, with no issues whatsoever — and we’re still going 20 knots.

Halma Rib HR25 stern

But now it’s time to cross our own wake to see how this hull handles it. We cut through the waves and the boat lifts and jumps — as expected — yet it always lands softly on the water. The feeling is excellent; we’re doing 30 knots at 4400 RPM with some wave action hitting the bow, yet the cruising comfort remains top-notch. That’s truly a rarity for this type of boat — its behavior at sea is outstanding in any condition.

At this point, we want to push for top speed, to take the rib to its absolute limits. Powering our Halma Rib HR25 is a 300-horsepower Mercury engine, even though the boat can be fitted with an outboard up to 400 horsepower. We’re already cruising at 35 knots, but there’s still plenty of throttle left. We turn the bow opposite to the direction of the waves so we can go full throttle and see how the boat performs at maximum speed. So, throttles down — and off we go: 35, 38, 40 knots, even though the sea is quite rough today. We fine-trim it at 43 knots and hit a top speed of 43.7 knots, reached at just under 6000 RPM. That confirms the propeller pitch is also well matched for this boat.

Halma Rib HR25 running left

The Halma Rib HR25 in detail

We bring the speed back down to 30 knots — the perfect cruising pace for when the sea isn’t perfectly calm, like it is during our test. We’ve still got 3–4 nautical miles to go before reaching the port of Palermo, where we’ll dock and show you the interior details of this wonderful Halma Rib HR25. As you can see in the video, design truly takes center stage on this boat — it’s simply stunning.

At the stern, there’s a large split swim platform surrounding the outboard engine, effectively creating a spacious beach club area designed to make getting in and out of the water easy. There’s also a large U-shaped sofa that converts into a sunbed, featuring contrasting colors and comfortably seating up to six people — an impressive feature for a boat of this size. The dinette area is equipped with a sink, a spot for an optional fridge, and a small stove — so you’ve got everything you need to enjoy your days at anchor.

Moving toward the bow, we find the cockpit with a well-designed helm station that offers excellent visibility. The throttle and all the boat’s instruments are comfortably within easy reach. But it’s the bow that truly leaves us speechless. Designers Inzerillo and Albeggiani, specialists in this size range of boats, have widened the bow of the Halma Rib HR25 to create an impressively spacious area. As you can see in the video, two people can comfortably lie down on the sunbed with plenty of room to spare. And that’s not all: at the forward end of the cockpit, there’s an additional sofa — sure to be one of the most popular spots when cruising — which hides a surprise inside. By lifting it, we discover a small changing room, even equipped with a toilet. This stunning Rib just never ceases to amaze.

Following the launch of the HR30—the first model in the line unveiled at the last Boot Düsseldorf—Halma Rib has chosen the Venice Boat Show for the world premiere of its latest creation. The shipyard will be exhibiting for the first time in Venice in collaboration with Marina Porto Antico, Halma Rib’s official dealer for northern Italy.

The 2025 edition of the prestigious international boat show, taking place from May 29 to June 2, will be an important milestone for the company. Founded with the aim of combining performance, design, and build quality, Halma Rib has quickly caught the attention of boating enthusiasts thanks to its artisanal approach and attention to detail. The Venice Boat Show is therefore the perfect stage to boost brand visibility and shine a spotlight on the HR25 in a setting of true excellence. Alongside this new model, the company will also showcase its well-established AL100, a 5.8-metre trailerable RIB known for its reliability and proven performance.

HR25: first look at the new model

The HR25 is a 28-foot RIB that combines modern lines with advanced technical solutions. Designed to offer comfort, safety, and high performance, this RIB is suitable for both recreational and professional use. It’s the smallest model in the HR range, yet in just 8.10 meters it manages to pack in the same comforts as its larger sibling, the HR30. The two RIBs also share a luxurious and elegant design.

hr25-halma rib

“In the Italian market, there are no other RIBs just over 8 meters that offer the same level of comfort as the HR25 – says Filippo Amoroso of Halma Rib. Standard features include an aft dinette with a table and a bathroom within the changing room—everything you need for long day outings.

The HR25 on display in Venice will be equipped with a 300-horsepower Mercury engine. Key features include a high-performance hull for stable navigation even in rough seas, spacious sunbathing areas, and meticulously crafted finishes.

A special offer at the boat show

We’re thrilled to be taking part in the Venice Boat Show for the first time and to present the HR25 in such a prestigious setting – adds Amoroso – It’s a big step for us toward reaching a wider, more discerning audience and a great opportunity to showcase our unique vision of boating. But we’re not stopping here—we’re already working on the next and largest model in the range, the HR35, which will be ready in January 2026”.

Andrea Barbagelata of Marina Porto Antico, Halma Rib’s dealer for Northern Italy, adds: “We can’t wait to see the public’s reaction. The HR25 is a truly outstanding RIB, with refined finishes and an unbeatable tech setup for a boat of this size. It’s a very compelling package, and we’ve put together an unmissable launch offer: anyone who wants to be the first lucky owner of this model should come to the show and take advantage of the special promotional price, available exclusively during the event

We’re finalizing an agreement with a leading national bank to offer a simplified financing option: no guarantees, no leasing, for amounts up to €75,000”.

The HR25 will be available for onboard visits and one-on-one meetings with the Halma Rib and Marina Porto Antico teams, who will be on hand to share every detail about the new model and the company’s philosophy.

Weather forecast: a guide to interpreting natural phenomena when we are sailing.

weather forecast for navigationAs time  goes on, it becomes a habit, a sort of conditioned reflex which leads us, even in the city, to look up and find in a cloud or a smell something which is going to change.

Maybe nowadays, being provided with all we need to have a weather forecast at home, understanding weather and its signs belongs to the wide lands of pleasure rather than to the fenced spaces of necessity.

However, especially in a scenery like the Mediterranean Sea, where weather variables are countless, a comparison between what our nose and eyes suggest and what we have read can give something more to make the right choice and thus to have weather forecast that can anticipate the advent of probable natural phenomena during navigation.

Nature give us many informations and signs. Clouds, humidity, air transparency and sea movements in a harbour form a self-perpetuating language we have to listen to.

Our dialogue with nature can start in the harbour, before sailing off. If we are in a zone not particularly subject to tidal ranges, we can observe what happens at the water level in the harbour. If we notice a significant increase, it is the sign that wind is blowing from the sea and that waves are increasing. Vice versa, if water level decreases, this means that wind is blowing from the land and that a under-coast-navigation will be in calm waters.

aloneAlways in the calm waters of a harbour or near a roadstead, night is the best advisor. In summer, when the deck is covered with millions of humidity drops, it indicates that everything is ok, good weather is not changing and tomorrow will be a nice day. But if we are enjoying an unusually dry evening and our cockpit is perfectly dry, we’d better to examine in depth: something is changing, especially if we are near some elevations.

Night is, of course, the best moment to look at the sky. Let’s take some seconds to be more analytical and let’s look at the stars: if they are particularly sparkling, and we haven’t just fallen in love, this means that air is more transparent because of some high strong winds which will probably reinforce the water level, too.

The moon, too, can inform us about the coming day. The halo surrounding it has inspired several proverbs in all languages and dialects: Halo around the sun or moon, rain or snow soon”, for example.

Popular proverbs, forged by experience, indicate a precise phenomenon: the presence of cirrostratus clouds which create an optical effect. Since cirrostratus clouds are often associated to an increase in humidity, the moon and its halo are probably warning about the arrival of a warm front and rain in very few hours.

weather forecast for sailorsWeather forecast depend on many natural elements. In summer, breezes are another important source of information. The raising warm air which gives way for the colder one is a sort of play between land and sea that, if it is not disturbed by an unexpected event, is very regular: at night, breeze blows from the land to the seaduring the day, from the sea to the land. A strong intensification of breezes or a sudden end of them indicate an anomaly. So, we have to check the situation on the web in order to understand what is changing.

A sudden change in wind direction and temperature is another important alert. It can indicate many phenomena, like a storm, we can interpret by observing clouds.

Another situation which should activate our senses is when wind, after being fresh, starts to jump from quadrant to quadrant. We are probably next to the centre of a depression and wind will become stronger.

Clouds take shape, run, disappear, change their shape. Charming exactly for their volatile mood, we don’t have to classify them according to their height, shape and composition. We only have to observe them and register what happens.

When we sail along a coast in summer, for example, it’s easy to see some white clouds generated by the condensation of the raising warm air. It’s a situation of good weather but it’s better we keep an eye on them, especially after a long period of high temperature.

cloudsIf they start to develop upwards and take the typical shape of an anvil, they are getting cumulus clouds. The air on the sea level will travel towards them and it will feed them. Then, after a short dead calm, it will reverse its direction. A storm will appear with all its strength, accompanied by gusts, rain and some litghenings.

If, on the contrary, we notice some oval clouds, especially on the leeward side of elevations, we can be rather safe that a strong wind is blowing in the surroundings and it might reach the sea level.

Scattered ceiling, water in basins. We can trust in proverbs to interpret the message of cirrocumulus clouds, that is the clouds which appear in big groups with small pieces of visible sky, like a flock. They indicate the presence of high wet winds and that a perturbation is slowly coming.

The same message of cirrostratus clouds which create a halo around the moon at night and around the sun in the day. Also in this case, especially if temperature is getting warmer, clouds suggest to prepare a raincoat because a warm front and rain are coming.

Vice versa, a sky studded by white bolls, with wide spaces of blue, wants to reassure us about the coming sunny day.

After all, even a summer day with very little visibility, opaque sky and a lot of humidity, is the sign that weather is stable, with flat sea and no wind. But if this blanket suddenly disappear and air gets clearer, a gust of wind might occur.

We could go on for hours to observe and interpret clouds, but we also need to look at waves. It has certainly happened to each of us to ask ” Where does this sea come from?” while facing a long wave unrelated to the wind blowing in that moment or even in a situation of total calm. If it is not old sea, the answer is easy: in the direction where the wave comes from, the wind is probably becoming stronger and this is a certainty if the wave quickly becomes shorter and steeper.

Clouds and skin, eyes and waves are really some refined tools to recognize and understand natural phenomena. We have to activate our senses, link them to our memory and register what we see.

Without forgetting to consult weather bulletins carefully before sailing off, a way to have reliable weather forecast that can provide a comprehensive anticipation of natural phenomena that might occur while we are at sea.

It’s hard not to fall in love at first sight with the new Halma Rib HR30. With its gray livery, white cushions, and exposed teak, it makes an undeniably striking impression.

Two years of meticulous design work have culminated in this inflatable boat, the first of a range that already includes two more models under construction. It immediately stands out for its high-quality finishes, elegant lines, and a design that departs significantly from the standard. In a market where inflatables risk looking too similar, this is undoubtedly a significant innovation.

Take, for instance, the ingenious design effort that allowed the shipyard to start with a deep-V hull and create this stunning “widened” bow. This clever feature significantly expands the interior spaces of the new Halma Rib HR30.

Halma Rib HR30 drone view

Another noteworthy detail is the attention paid in designing the stern. Particularly in this version with sterndrive propulsion, the stern achieves exceptional levels of elegance and practicality, showcasing the shipyard’s ambitious vision. In this configuration, the stern platform seamlessly connects to the expansive sunbathing area—impressive for a nine-meter boat—via an attractive and convenient step. This step cleverly conceals two practical storage compartments, combining beauty with functionality.

The sundeck culminates in a backrest that allows it to double as a chaise longue. On either side, practical cup holders are integrated directly into the cushions, adding a clever touch of convenience.

The forward-facing sofa is also impressive, sharing its backrest with the sunpad. It comfortably accommodates 3-4 people during navigation.

Event the unit housing the two helm seats is thoughtfully designed, incorporating essential features such as a built-in refrigerator, a retractable table, and, on top, a compact galley block equipped with a sink.

Hidden beneath the helm station is a practical cabin/changing room, nearly 1.8 meters high and equipped with a toilet. It’s easily accessible through a sliding door on the port side.

Completing this remarkable deck layout is the bow sunpad. Thanks to the “XXL” design of the bow itself, this sunpad is simply enormous.

As you’ve probably already gathered from reading, the Halma Rib HR30, despite being just a 9-meter RIB, boasts a range of features typically found on much larger maxi-RIBs in the 10-11 meter category.

In short, an incredibly intriguing inflatable that we simply couldn’t resist testing on the water. Here’s how it went.

Halma Rib HR30 Sea Trial

It’s undeniable that the Halma Rib HR30 doesn’t go unnoticed. I see proof of it as we slowly leave Marina Porto Antico—people are looking, admiring the boat. It really is a beauty.

It takes about ten minutes to reach open sea, and I use the time to test out all the seating areas. I sink into the aft chaise longue, stretch out on the bow sunpad, and finally try the forward-facing sofa. This RIB is impressively comfortable, secure, and offers an abundance of space.

Once we’re out at sea, I take the helm, secure the safety lanyard, and push the throttles forward. I love sterndrive engines—they give RIBs a feel that’s closer to a yacht and improve weight distribution by shifting the center of gravity forward, enhancing the boat’s trim and stability.

Indeed, the Halma Rib HR30 gets up on plane almost immediately, at around 10 knots, leaving a clean wake behind. In no time, we’re cruising at 25 knots, consuming less than 7.92 gals per hour per engine. The RIB cuts through the waves with remarkable comfort—even though the sea is rough, it seems unfazed.

I ask the crew to sit tight and hold on. Without slowing down, I turn sharply to starboard. The Halma Rib HR30 holds its course perfectly, carving a flawless circle without any tendency to veer wide or tighten the turn. I counter-turn to port and then speed up—a maneuver that would challenge many RIBs. But in our case, the only noticeable effect is an increase in centrifugal force—and with it, the adrenaline rush rises, much to the delight of everyone on board.

With all the chaos I stirred up with my maneuvers, the sea around me is now full of large waves. I pick the tallest one, head straight for it, and push the throttle to full power. The Halma Rib HR30, however, remains unfazed—at over 35 knots, it slices through the wave as if it were butter.

This hull is truly remarkable. The classic deep-V design always proves its worth in terms of seaworthiness, and I love seeing modern projects that still respect the fundamentals of hydrodynamics.

I level out (partly because I may have shaken my crew up a bit too much) and push the throttles all the way down. The Halma Rib HR30 surges forward once more with impressive acceleration, taking us past 43 knots with ease.

Halma Rib HR30: conclusions

With a starting price of around €100,000 and the level of quality we’ve seen, the new Halma Rib HR30 is incredibly appealing. Of course, you’ll need to factor in the cost of your chosen engines, but you’re getting a lot of boat for that price.

The shipyard also offers extensive customization options, allowing you to create a RIB tailored specifically to your preferences. Once you’ve chosen your engine configuration, you’ll have the opportunity to design a boat that’s truly unique, with the features and colors you desire.

The 2Bar 82 delivers RIB performance with exceptional customization and impressive stability, making it a standout model. With a completely new design, it features unmistakable black tubes and unique tobacco-colored upholstery. Powered by two Mercury V6 200 hp engines, it promises an adrenaline-packed experience during testing. The 2Bar 82 is also an ideal choice for charter activities.

The 2Bar 82 in detail

The stern of the 2Bar 82 is generously sized, and the two swim platforms make accessing the boat effortless. The shipyard has added two practical steps between the tubes and the aft seating, further facilitating boarding.

The gray synthetic teak with light-colored seams emphasizes the sporty aesthetic and highlights its speed-oriented character. The large aft sunpad fully surrounds the seating area, comfortably accommodating six guests. The high-quality upholstery, a hallmark of 2Bar’s craftsmanship, is available in a range of distinctive colors, ensuring both style and durability.

aft seating

There is ample space between the seating and the console to install a good-sized table if needed. A particularly striking feature is the wide walkway between the tubes and the helm console. Despite being 8.2 meters long, moving forward to the bow is easy and intuitive, with a robust grab rail along the console providing extra safety. The helm station, while not oversized, comfortably seats two people side by side.

2bar 82 sea trial

At the bow, the 2Bar 82 features a forward-facing bench and an excellent sunpad that comfortably accommodates two people. Beneath the cushions, a large storage locker is revealed by opening the hatch, offering ample space for stowing gear. To enhance versatility, the shipyard has also installed a support for an optional table, which can be set up by removing the cushions.

At the front of the console, a large compass-style door opens to reveal a cleverly designed space that can be equipped with a toilet and shower—a truly remarkable feature for a boat of this size.

2bar 82 Sea Trial

We head out from the dock with a bit of crosswind, and outside the marina, the sea has a slight chop. The two Mercury engines powering the 2Bar 82 make their presence felt even at low revs. At 1,000 RPM, we’re cruising at 8.3 knots, with fuel consumption at 21.2 L/h. The boat feels stable, with the tubes doing their job effectively.

The sense of stability increases significantly as we pick up speed. At 2,500 RPM, we’re at 25 knots, and the hull glides over the waves without slamming, finding a perfect hydrodynamic balance. Pushing the throttle further, we reach 4,500 RPM and hit an impressive 48 knots. Despite the speed, the steering remains smooth. However, at such high velocities, it’s clear that the helmsman needs to be fully in control.

Reducing the throttle to 3,000 RPM, the Garmin screen shows 30 knots. Astonishingly, after hitting 48 knots, cruising at 30 knots almost feels like we’re standing still. The grip is excellent, and even during sharp turns, the tubes keep the boat perfectly on track.

Before docking, I stop in the marina’s entry channel to test a few reverse maneuvers. The steering system performs exceptionally well, with the hull responding instantly and precisely to every command.
