Aquila Catamarans successfully concluded its participation in the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2025, unveiling the brand-new Aquila 36 Molokai in its world premiere and the refined Aquila 46 Yacht in its U.S. premiere. The event, held from October 29 to November 2, provided the perfect stage for the Clearwater-based shipyard’s full range, which also showcased the Aquila 54 Yacht, 50 Yacht, 47 Molokai and 42 Coupe, reaffirming steady growth and an ever-broader vision of the international market.

Aquila Catamarans, world debut for the 36 Molokai

The new Aquila 36 Molokai made its world debut as a sport-fishing catamaran designed to offer the perfect balance of offshore performance, comfort and practicality. Measuring 11.63 meters in length with a beam of 3.59 meters, the Molokai 36 stands out for its double-stepped hull, its infused vinylester construction with carbon-fiber reinforcements, and a full carbon hardtop that ensures both rigidity and lightness.

The boat can be powered by twin 300 hp Mercury V8 engines, or by optional V10 versions with 400, 425 or 500 hp, unleashing the full potential of a sporty catamaran built to take on even the most demanding offshore runs. With a full-load displacement of about 8,800 kilos and 1,924 liters of fuel, it offers generous range, while the 508-gallon tanks allow for long days of fishing or cruising with no compromises.

Aquila 36 Molokai

The single-level deck provides seamless movement from bow to stern and excellent access to the water. At the stern, the central hatch with integrated dive ladder makes it easy to get in and out of the water, while the tuna door and bait-prep station underscore the boat’s sport-fishing DNA.

The enclosed cabin, accessed from the starboard side, offers a comfortable space for two people, featuring a double berth, toilet and sink. The area can be air-conditioned thanks to an optional package, making overnight stays on board possible.

Aquila Catamarans’ design philosophy shines through in the balance between sportiness and comfort. Jean Raas, CEO and Chief Product Officer of Aquila USA, explained: “The 36 Molokai represents our vision of what a modern fishing catamaran should be. We collaborated with Peart Yacht Design on the engineering, but the concept grew from listening to what anglers truly want: a boat that can handle the sea yet also adapt as a versatile platform for the family or as a yacht tender. The cabin with a dedicated toilet compartment is what clearly sets us apart in this segment”.

Aquila 46Aquila Catamarans, the U.S. premiere of the 46 Yacht

After the success achieved at the Cannes Yachting Festival, where it made its world debut, the Aquila 46 Yacht made its official entry into the American market at Fort Lauderdale. Measuring 14.36 meters in length with a beam of 7.10 meters, this model marks a significant step forward in cruising-catamaran design, offering an ideal combination of interior volume, comfort and performance.

Aquila Catamarans 46 view

The structure is built in infused vinylester with a PVC core, with no plywood in the structural components and watertight bulkheads both forward and aft. The high-level build quality is evident in the layout: the panoramic salon with large tempered-glass windows features a U-shaped dining area, a fully equipped galley and a large opposing sofa. The flybridge, protected by a fiberglass hardtop, offers a comfortable social space with sunpads, a wet bar and a helm station for three, ensuring excellent visibility.

The interiors stand out for their brightness and quality finishes, with cabins configurable from three to five depending on the owner’s needs. In the three-cabin version, the owner’s suite spans the full beam and includes a king-size bed, private bathroom with double sinks and a separate shower. The guest cabins, each with private bathroom, are furnished with queen-size beds and large hull windows.

The Aquila 46 Yacht is available with twin Volvo Penta D4 engines producing 320 hp, or alternatively with D6 engines generating 480 hp or 550 hp Yanmars, offering balanced speed and fuel efficiency. The 1,800-liter fuel tanks, with an additional optional 800 liters, provide excellent range, while the 800-liter freshwater tank and 240-liter blackwater tank make the vessel perfectly suited for extended cruising.

Jean Raas emphasized that the Aquila 46 Yacht represents “our commitment to bringing the innovation of larger yachts to more accessible platforms. This yacht delivers the spaciousness, capability and level of luxury our clients expect from Aquila Catamarans, while maintaining a more intimate scale—perfect for couples or small groups looking to enjoy premium experiences on the water”. His remarks were followed by those of Alain Rass: “These two new models reflect our vision for power-catamaran design: reinventing the fishing boat and bringing yacht-level innovation to more compact sizes”, added the Global Brand Director of Aquila Catamarans.

SELVA MARINE presented many new products during the Genoa International Boat Show, which pleasantly impressed visitors. One of these is undoubtedly the 920 Center Console, representing a significant expansion in the range of fiberglass (GRP) boats produced by Selva, a brand renowned for the reliability of its outboard engines and boats. This new model enters the segment of large open boats, offering a successful balance between sturdy construction, functional space, and performance. From chartering to sport fishing trips or simple outings with friends, the 920 Center Console is a truly ingenious boat. At 9.2 meters in length, it stands out for its configuration, which offers a range of advantages.

selva marine 920 center console

The Design Center Console: Maximum Habitability

The heart of the project is the Center Console configuration, a layout beloved by enthusiasts for its exceptional practicality. By placing the helm station in the center, it provides:

  1. Total Freedom of Movement: You can easily walk around the console, from bow to stern, an essential feature both for fishing and for guest boarding/disembarking.
  2. Optimized Spaces: The bow and stern become multifunctional areas that can be set up with sofas, sunbeds, or left open for equipment.
  3. Robust Fiberglass Structure: The fiberglass construction ensures excellent seaworthiness and greater structural strength compared to other types, which is crucial for a 9.2-meter boat.

side view

Intended Use: Charter, Sport Fishing, and Yachting

The vocation of the 920 Center Console is clearly dual, yet always geared toward intensive and high-performance use:

  • Ideal for Chartering: The wide deck space and ease of movement make it perfect for professional chartering. The boat can comfortably accommodate a significant number of people while managing equipment for day trips. Stability and sturdiness ensure comfortable cruising even in rough seas.
  • Sport Fishing: For anglers, the Center Console layout is almost a must. It allows casting from the bow, stern, and sides without obstacles, and following the fish with 360-degree freedom. The solid fiberglass structure can also withstand the stresses of demanding offshore fishing trips.
  • Recreational Use: For those who love spending days at sea with family or friends, the 920 Center Console is perfect, combining simplicity with the performance and versatility of a medium-sized boat.

920 center console stern viewGiven the boat’s length of 9.2 meters, the Selva 920 Center Console falls within the segment of vessels that typically feature high-powered outboard engines, often in a twin-engine configuration, to ensure the performance required for both chartering and offshore sport fishing.

As a Selva product, the boat is designed to be equipped as a package with the brand’s outboard engines.

Selva engine setup options include:

  • 2 x 200 HP (400 HP total): A balanced combination offering a good compromise between power, fuel efficiency, and maneuverability.
  • 2 x 250 HP or 2 x 300 HP (500–600 HP total): For those seeking high performance, fast cruising speeds, and the ability to navigate dynamically even at full load.

selva marineSoon, The International Yachting Media will have the opportunity to carry out a sea trial, providing more detailed information on both performance and onboard features.

Ferrari Hypersail: the Prancing Horse enters the world of sailing.

Ferrari unveils its new project, Ferrari Hypersail — a bold new sporting challenge in the world of sailing that blends the brand’s rich racing heritage with cutting-edge technology. The name Hypersail pays tribute to Ferrari’s racing DNA and its Hypercars, the ultimate expression of endurance performance.
ferrari hypersail project Led by Team Principal Giovanni Soldini, the Hypersail project aims to create a state-of-the-art research and development platform dedicated to ocean sailing. With the goal of exploring new frontiers in technology and innovation, the project will draw on Ferrari’s in-house expertise in close collaboration with leading specialists in the boating sector. The yacht, designed by French naval architect Guillaume Verdier, is also a major marine engineering feat: an original prototype of a 100-foot flying monohull racing yacht, stabilized by three points of contact. The main innovation conceived by the designer is that one of the foils will be supported by a canting keel, while the other contact points will consist of a foil on the rudder and, alternately, the two lateral foils. This 100-footer is the first vessel of its size in the world to be completely energy self-sufficient.

Currently under construction in Italy, the yacht is scheduled to be launched in 2026, when it will begin sea trials and the initial testing phase.

ferrari

Hypersail is a new challenge that pushes us to go beyond our limits and expand our technological horizons. At the same time, it follows in Ferrari’s tradition, drawing inspiration from our Hypercar, three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Designing a boat for offshore sailing is perhaps the ultimate expression of endurance – said John Elkann, Chairman of Ferrari – Giovanni Soldini is a cornerstone of this project—not only for his achievements as a sailor but also for his unmatched experience in yacht development and construction. The incredible teamwork between Ferrari and Guillaume Verdier is giving life to a unique boat that will fly across the oceans. It also represents an opportunity for innovation in both the nautical and automotive worlds”.

I’m happy and honored to be part of this adventure – said Giovanni Soldini, Team Principal of Hypersail – It’s an exciting challenge backed by a truly exceptional team that brings together Ferrari’s excellence and the expertise of designers specialized in ocean sailing. The meeting of different cultures and advanced technologies is allowing us to build a boat that is revolutionary in many ways. From a sailing standpoint, it’s innovative in both design and flight. On the systems side, Ferrari’s contribution is driving the development of an onboard control system unlike anything ever seen before. To best prepare for the variability and force of the phenomena and conditions we’ll face at sea, the priority is to strike the right balance between extreme performance and maximum reliability”.

Technical details

The search for entirely original solutions applied to sailing has already led to the filing of nine patents, with six more in the works. Equally significant is the contribution that the pursuit of ultimate performance at sea is making to the evolution of the Prancing Horse’s sports cars. The monohull is designed to operate exclusively on renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and kinetic energy. No combustion engine is installed onboard, and all the energy required to power the control systems and movement of the foils, keel, and rudder—as well as the entire onboard electronics suite including computers and instruments—must be self-generated during navigation.

At the 2025 Miami Boat Show, held in the past few days, the editorial team of The International Yachting Media attended Honda Marine’s highly anticipated presentation, where the brand unveiled the preview of its mid-range BF115-135-150 lineup, along with the long-awaited BF200, BF225, and BF250 models.

honda marine outboards

With these exciting new releases, Honda Marine continues on its path of evolution. The launch of the BF350 wasn’t a final goal but rather a starting point and a turning point for the brand. The renewal project, first hinted at during the last Genoa International Boat Show, was confirmed at the 2025 Düsseldorf Boot Show with the introduction of the new BF300—a project developed over years of research and innovation by Honda in the marine sector, as we previously discussed in one of our articles.

Simpler and more efficient navigation—these are the two main focuses of Honda Marine’s research and development. The latest upgrades primarily enhance performance and controls. With the introduction of a new side-mounted Drive-By-Wire throttle and a new 7-inch multifunction display, managing all navigation functions is now easier than ever.

stern view

Honda Marine has also confirmed that these new models will feature Trim Support, Automatic Tilt, and Cruise Control, functions previously introduced on the BF350 and BF300. These innovations enhance onboard comfort and ensure the best possible navigation experience in all sea and wind conditions.

The sleek, completely updated design, combined with a compact build, adds a touch of elegance and modernity to the new Honda Marine engines. They will be available in two signature color options: the iconic Aquamarine Silver and the sporty Grand Prix White.

These new outboards will make their official European debut at the 2025 Genoa Boat Show in September, where visitors will also have the opportunity to test them on the water.

ICE 66 rs: boat tour and first sailing impressions

It is not possible to approach a vessel of this caliber without first considering its genesis. Presented in mid-2021, when the world was still in the midst of a pandemic, the new ICE 66 rs project brought together a stellar team. The renowned Farr Yacht Design, a firm that needs no introduction, is responsible for the hull lines and naval architecture. They collaborated with another internationally significant name: Lucio Micheletti, the creative genius behind the interior and exterior design. This incredible partnership has produced true masterpieces, such as the award-winning S/Y CANOVA, the legendary Baltic 142.

With these premises, I decisively climb aboard the new ICE 66, just as the sails are being delivered and rigged for the first time.

The following article is an exclusive preview, a gift from ICE Yachts to The International Yachting Media.

Ice 66 RS at night

The new ICE 66 rs in detail

The first heart-stopping moment happens even before climbing on board. It is impossible not to notice how the new ICE 66 rs is a completely different sailing yacht compared to its predecessors. The lines are not just beautiful; they are decidedly modern, luxurious, and innovative. This boat resembles no other.

The stern is simply huge, resembling that of an 80-footer, and it features one of the cleanest designs I have ever seen. The deckhouse is remarkably sinuous, rising with uncommon delicacy and beauty, while its side moldings appear to be shaped by the wind, almost like those of a modern supercar.

Continuing towards the bow of the ICE 66 rs, just after the mast, we find a simple yet clean expanse of (eco-friendly) teak decking that further enhances the overall elegance Lucio Micheletti has bestowed upon the exterior of this yacht.

Descending below deck, I am struck for the second time. The overall view of the salon of the new ICE 66 rs is breath-taking. Here, different types of woods and fabrics play off each other in an environment where nothing is left to chance. Sublime color combinations, enhanced by unprecedented material workmanship, create an ambiance that, despite benefiting from nearly six meters of beam, manages to extend the natural boundaries of sight beyond their physical limits.

Two opposing sofas, though massive, fail to diminish the beauty of the initial void that, masterfully, finds a wonderful conclusion with that central furniture piece, which alone synthesizes Lucio Micheletti’s skill in concealing function with forms of sublime beauty.

The suite that the ICE 66 rs reserves for its owner is yet another clear example. Here, the bow tapers significantly, yet once again, this design of tone-on-tone, warm colors that gradually cool as they ascend, remarkably expands the spaces. The King Size bed is centrally placed and adorned with changes in elevation and exquisite lighting, highlighting woodworking craftsmanship that I haven’t seen in a long time.

The galley forms a U-shape around the carbon fiber mast, intentionally left exposed, seamlessly blending with the surrounding environment and reflecting its forms on its glossy surface. Onboard the ICE 66 rs, the work surfaces seem endless from every angle, as do the large storage volumes. Expertly concealed within high-quality furniture are refrigerators, induction cooktops, and such a quantity of cabinets and lockers that undoubtedly equip the ICE 66 rs for long summer cruises (or ocean crossings), earning it the full title of a blue water cruiser.

ICE 66 rs Sea Trial

We leave the harbor while the sailmakers are still hoisting the mainsail, the boat packed to the brim, clearly set up for pure cruising. The ICE 66 rs sails around 6 knots with the engine just above 1300 RPMs, its hull smoothly gliding through the water, leaving barely a trace. I ask Roberto Innocenti, my close friend and captain, to accelerate a bit to understand our cruising speed under motor. He pushes the throttle forward, and at 2400 RPMs, we reach ten and a half knots. I glance back at the wake, still clean, the stern refusing to dip—promising signs indeed. We’ll see…

It takes quite a while for the sailmakers to hoist the mainsail, the lock acting up. Meanwhile, the legendary thermal wind of the Gulf of La Spezia, which reliably gives us 10-12 knots nearly every day, like clockwork, starts to fade. Fortunately, the jib quickly sets, a perfect 103% and ideal for simple cruising.

We turn off the engine when there’s very little true wind, the gauge optimistically showing 4.9/5 knots. We bear away, and to our surprise, the boat heels, creates its apparent wind, and immediately accelerates. In no time, we’re above 5 knots, then hitting 5.7, but it’s time to tack.

Ice 66 rs upwind

We’re inside the breakwater, on a close reach, exiting by Portovenere. To avoid sailing too close to the red beacon at Punta Santa Maria, we need to be fast. Mentally noting the standard but optimistic 90° angles, we tack and change sides. I’ve done this tack a thousand times; it’s usually impossible with just one tack when there’s little wind, especially with the mussel buoys… Yet, the ICE 66 rs effortlessly tacks without slowing down, disregarding the lack of wind signs on the water, and swiftly sets on the new tack at an incredible angle, accelerating to over 5 knots again.

We smoothly navigate past the mussel farms, the boat gliding like a train, passing by other sailboats and drawing astonished looks from fellow sailors who are almost stationary with their sails dangling. Damn, this ICE 66 rs sails like a dream.

ICE 66 detail

Reluctantly, I step off the boat and switch to the support boat to launch the drone. It takes off just as they’re hoisting the gennaker on the ICE 66 rs, a large, red sail spanning 450 square meters of beauty. Once again, I’m skeptical; we’re behind Palmaria and there’s less pressure here.

Yet, the sail catches the wind, and I see on my monitor that the boat begins to move—first slowly, then gaining speed as it creates its own apparent wind. I position myself beside it, flying at the same speed as the ICE 66 rs. The GPS on my drone reads 11/12 km/h, approximately 6 knots—amazing. Shifting the drone to the stern, I observe the wake, which inexplicably remains flat and clean.

It’s a magic that only a design studio like Farr Yacht Design could make possible, a magic that I must, indeed want to, experience again when there’s more wind because I am now certain that this ICE 66 rs has many more surprises in store.

Conclusions

With this yacht, ICE YACHTS undoubtedly takes a big step forward, raising the bar even higher in terms of expectations. The ICE 66 rs is a sailing boat that manages to be both easy to handle and incredibly fast, stable, and precise at the helm—a true pleasure to sail.

Beautiful inside and out, the ICE 66 rs sets a new course that, I am certain, will receive acclaim from all owners seeking an exclusive vessel—one that stands out and delights the senses whenever you lay eyes upon it.

With the technical launch scheduled for March, the construction of the new C-Tender 55 is progressing at full speed. This is a truly extraordinary yacht, built entirely custom using advanced techniques and construction methods typically reserved for large superyachts.

The design of the C-Tender 55 has been literally tailored to the needs of its owner, who resides in the Hamptons and plans to use the yacht for short, fast cruises before returning home to dock it at the pier of his villa, located in an area with very shallow waters.

These specific requirements led the shipyard to adopt surface propeller propulsion and extensively use carbon fiber in the construction. This approach ensures the boat is lightweight, high-performance, and has a shallow draft—an advantage that also allows it to anchor close to the most beautiful beaches.

The project boasts a stellar team, with Mauro Corvisieri overseeing the work, Davide Zerbinati supervising the construction, Francesco Rogantin of NAMES handling naval engineering, and Valentino Gabriele collaborating with Paolo Tamburini (the shipyard’s go-to designer) to develop both the exterior and interior design.

C-Tender 55 Davide Zerbinati

The client wanted a sporty boat capable of reaching and exceeding 40 knots – explains Davide Zerbinati, the project manager and a highly experienced marine surveyor – So we opted for extensive use of carbon fiber, which allowed us to keep the weight low without compromising solidity. The deck and all superstructures are made of this material, including the two folding side terraces, each over 3 meters long and operated by dual pistons and hinges. All the structural bulkheads are also made of carbon fiber, and the hull’s structural grid has been reinforced with the same material”.

But the innovations brought by this yacht don’t stop there. All the exterior furniture has been crafted using a specialized 3D printing technique called CF20, which allows carbon powder to be added during the printing process and enables complete freedom in designing these elements.

 Mauro Corvisieri

All the materials chosen and used for this yacht are of the highest quality – continues Davide Zerbinati – For instance, the epoxy fairing and Alexseal paint (the same used on superyachts). These details are certainly more expensive than average, but they will allow the C-Tender 55 to sport a custom paint job: a stunning metallic Bentley blue to match the owner’s car”.

Equally extraordinary is the onboard electronics system, which allows the owner to single-handedly control the yacht using three joystick stations. The C-Tender 55 is equipped with Xenta’s top-of-the-line systems, paired with Volvo Penta propulsion, setting a high standard for the components used on this boat.

This is further evidenced by the inclusion of a tropical-grade air conditioning system and Raymarine electronics, which enhance the standard instrumentation with augmented reality, a thermal camera, and three large screens that ensure maximum safety for navigation, even at night.

As mentioned earlier, the technical launch of the C-Tender 55 is scheduled for early March, and we at THE INTERNATIONAL YACHTING MEDIA can’t wait to climb aboard and test this masterpiece of naval engineering.

Luxia Yachts 375 GTS and Monaco ready to redefine the concept of luxury

The genesis of LUXIA YACHTS is a journey through skills and contaminations. Technical experts and designers coming from specialized sectors such as automotive and aerospace industry have enabled the reinvention of yacht models within a highly specialized and competitive segment.

The shipyard’s two new models, the LUXIA 375 GTS and the LUXIA MONACO, set a new paradigm of undeniable beauty and elegance, thanks to the combined expertise of both in-house and external teams involved in the project.

design

LUXIA YACHTS‘ design shines through in the harmonious balance of interior and exterior spaces, with flexible and customizable layouts.

Meticulous, almost obsessive attention to detail optimizes available space, ensuring a comfortable and secure environment. What makes these two models unique, however, is the shipyard’s achievement of a perfect balance in form, both aesthetically and in terms of safety.

Every element found on board is selected with extreme care—from the faucets to the smallest details—all thoughtfully designed to achieve an overall standard of excellence, comparable to that of a superyacht.

LUXIA YACHTS 375 GTS

A coupé that merges functionality with design, measuring 11.50 meters in overall length and 3.50 meters wide. The hull features clean, powerful, and aggressive waterlines. The LUXIA YACHTS 375GTS is designed to offer a perfect balance between form and function, with interior and exterior spaces that enhance connection with the sea. At the stern, a table with comfortable benches accommodates six guests and can easilty convert into a spacious sunbathing area. The generously sized hardtop provides protection for the driver and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen, allowing guests to fully enjoy convivial moments on board.

The left-side helm console features true sports-car styling. Among the options offered by LUXIA YACHTS are an extendable-arm sunshade for a larger shaded area and a choice of propulsion systems—either sterndrive or outboard. The LUXIA 375 GTS can be powered by Mercury V8 and V10 Verado outboard engines, designed to minimize noise and vibration, ensuring an unparalleled cruising experience. Another standout feature of these engines is their light weight and fuel efficiency, all while delivering thrilling speed and acceleration.

Interior

The design of LUXIA YACHTS extends seamlessly below deck, creating a comfortable environment with various layout options for owners.

The space is centered around a spacious dinette that can be transformed into a cozy cabin as needed—a deliberate choice by the shipyard to enhance conviviality. The area is well-lit, thanks to two large windows on the hull sides and a forward hatch. At the stern, the double cabin is equally generous, featuring a truly spacious entrance that doesn’t require stooping to enter. Notably, the interior height reaches an impressive 1.90 meters.

Amidship, on the port side, is a bathroom with a separate shower, also surprisingly spacious for a yacht of this size, with two independent entrances for added privacy. The space is well-lit, with two opening windows and ceiling lights, including one positioned above the sink. To starboard, there’s a large galley along the wall, equipped with top-quality appliances: a two-burner black induction hob, a built-in 49-liter refrigerator, and a microwave.

All below-deck areas showcase the signature style of Ermenegildo Nilson, who has exclusively designed patterns for LUXIA YACHTS that embellish the walls, cushions, and linens.

This fusion of Ermenegildo Nilson’s craftsmanship with LUXIA’s elegance transforms the yacht’s private space into something far more than mere decoration.
