At Metstrade 2025, one of the most important stages for innovation in the boating sector, Henri-Lloyd presented Ocean PRO, a new generation of technical offshore clothing designed to redefine the standards of protection in extreme sailing. The debut took place at stand 03.520/03.512 and was the result of a three-year development process carried out in collaboration with professional sailors taking part in ocean races such as the Vendée Globe and The Ocean Race. This new range will also be tested at our test center in Marina Porto Antico, Genoa, where we will carry out a dedicated endurance test to verify its performance in real conditions.

According to Knut Frostad, Executive Chairman of Henri-Lloyd, this project represents “a decisive step forward in offshore protection”. “The goal – he emphasizes – is not only to create a garment capable of withstanding the toughest conditions, but above all to allow sailors to perform at their best, for longer, in a sustainable and comfortable way”.

Survival-grade technology and performance

Selected for the 2025 Dame Award, the Ocean PRO range was designed to meet the needs of teams and athletes tackling ocean crossings in critical conditions. Its development is based on proprietary technology: the world’s first 4-layer hybrid stretch membrane, designed to provide survival-grade waterproofing (35K), high breathability (14K), and a 17% weight reduction compared to traditional offshore gear. This balance allows maximum protection from external elements while maintaining freedom of movement, an essential factor during extended sailing or racing.

The innovation also translates into operational efficiency: the mobility offered by the stretch fabrics, combined with reduced fatigue, makes these garments particularly suitable for physically and mentally demanding situations. Sea trials have demonstrated consistent performance even under stress, helping to minimize the impact of wear and prolonged strain.

Ocean PRO, functionality-oriented design

The Ocean PRO range includes offshore jackets for men and women, a unisex hybrid smock, and Hi-Fit bib trousers. Each garment has been designed with particular attention to movement and operational dynamics at sea. The jacket features the Optivision Hood system, a removable face mask, and photoluminescent details to ensure visibility even in low-light conditions. The windproof flap, designed not to restrict movement, is paired with a removable neoprene inner skirt, created to block wind and water in extreme situations.

The smock represents a paradigm shift: it is the first offshore model with a full front closure and removable collar, designed to offer the protection of a traditional foul-weather jacket with the practicality of a modern jacket. The Hi-Fit bib trousers use stretch Cordura reinforcements, EVA padding in impact areas, and an articulated structure to ensure comfort even during long periods at sea. The women’s version features lowered side pockets for easier use with a PFD and a drop-seat system with corrosion-resistant AquaGuard waterproof zips designed for high durability.

Ocean PRO, materials and sustainability

Ocean PRO continues the path set by the Dynamic Range collection, which received a Special Commendation at the 2024 Dame Award, taking freedom of movement to a higher level. The outer fabric is made from 100% recycled polyamide with a 20D tricot backing, combined with a microporous membrane and hydrophilic coating free from PFOA and PFC. The double DWR PFC-free C0 finish ensures water repellency even after prolonged exposure to salt, oils, and sweat. The use of bias-cut panels and articulated sections provides unrestricted freedom of movement. The absence of lining makes the garments lighter and quicker to dry while allowing full customization of layering. The materials also come from pre-consumer recycled processes, certified according to the GRS standard.

For over a century, the doors of the world’s most beautiful ships and vessels have opened thanks to a name that has become synonymous with Italian excellence: F.lli Razeto & Casareto. Headquartered in Sori, in the heart of Liguria, the company continues to be an international benchmark in the design and production of accessories, locks, and handles for the marine industry—from superyachts to cruise ships and large liners. Ahead of METSTRADE 2025, which will take place in Amsterdam from November 18 to 20, Andrea and Giangi Razeto describe a company in full evolution, faithful to its roots yet projected toward new design and sustainability languages.

F.lli-Razeto-Casareto-handles

F.lli Razeto & Casareto, the evolution of luxury and customization as the hallmark of the present

“In the 1920s and 1930s – explains Andrea Razeto – luxury on board the great ocean liners was absolute: every environment, richly decorated, was signed by renowned architects. That kind of elegance gradually faded with the end of the liner era, but today we find its spirit again in ultra-luxury cruise ships and yachts, where customization has once again become crucial”.

A return, then, to the pursuit of beauty, but expressed through new languages and contemporary materials. “Today’s requests – Andrea adds – come directly from the owners, not from the shipyards. Those who buy a boat want to find on board the same quality and comfort they have in their homes or offices. It is this increasingly demanding and refined expectation that drives the evolution of yacht design”.

The dialogue between architects and shipyards has also intensified: “Today, owners bring their own architect, have them collaborate with the shipyard’s designers, and together they define every detail. It’s an approach that places the owner’s personality at the center and pushes us, as accessory manufacturers, to respond with increasingly custom-made solutions”.

Sustainability and research: a concrete approach

For F.lli Razeto & Casareto, sustainability is a well-established reality, not just a slogan. “We work with metals that are recyclable by definition – Andrea emphasizes – and for years we have eliminated hexavalent chrome–based galvanic treatments, replacing them with ecological solutions that offer the same corrosion resistance”.

The company is also completing its environmental and management certification process, with the goal of publishing its own sustainability report. “We follow the evolution of regulations, but our own mindset is also pushing us in that direction. When we collaborate with external partners – Andrea adds – we look for suppliers and materials that guarantee innovation and environmental respect”.

Andrea-and-Giangi-Razeto

Andrea and Giangi Razeto, two complementary souls

The company’s strength also lies in the balance between the two souls leading it. “Each of us – says Andrea – has followed his own inclination, thanks also to our father, who encouraged us toward the paths best suited to our talents. I deal with regulations and institutional relations, while Giangi brings creative flair and artistic vision”.

A balance that turns into synergy: Andrea’s industrial solidity and managerial vision combine with Giangi’s aesthetic and conceptual research, creating a laboratory of ideas where tradition and innovation coexist naturally.

The value of Made in Italy for F.lli Razeto & Casareto

Rooted in Sori, F.lli Razeto & Casareto continues to believe in the strength of its territory. “We are here because of tradition – Andrea says – but also because of identity. Most of our collaborators come from this area, and some are now the third generation. We train our staff internally, and growing together is important”.

On the meaning of Made in Italy, Andrea is clear: “Producing in Italy means keeping wealth here. If you relocate, you create wealth elsewhere. Made in Italy still carries enormous value, but it must be authentic, not just a marketing story”.

In that small Ligurian valley where foundries and workshops once thrived, the company is today one of the few industrial realities that remain—a symbol of a tradition that continues to renew itself over time.

Transformism, lightness, and iconicity: the three pillars of F.lli Razeto & Casareto’s present

Ahead of METSTRADE 2025, Giangi Razeto presents three key concepts guiding the company’s research: Transformism, Lightness, and Iconicity.

Transformism” is the dialogue between different worlds, as shown by one of the new products debuting in Amsterdam: a handle created in collaboration with a manufacturer of stocks for sporting firearms. “We used – Giangi explains – a multilayer laminate of FSC-certified Nordic birch from controlled-growth forests. I was struck by the way it is crafted, almost like a tattoo on wood. It’s a cross-contamination that reflects our desire to explore. Many of our innovations are born from contaminations with other production worlds. We like exploring different design languages and bringing new materials into our sector, as long as they have technical and sustainable coherence”.

Lightness”, on the other hand, finds expression in the collaboration with a French designer, Christophe, with whom Chrissy was created—a new handle designed for boats up to 20 meters, where space is limited and weight distribution is crucial. “We took inspiration – Giangi explains – from Italo Calvino’s American Lessons: lightness as purity of form and function. It is a handle that combines performance and stylistic clarity, conceived from the outset together with our locks and rosettes, not adapted afterward”.

Finally, “iconicity”, which for the company represents the ability to transform a technical object into a symbol. “This concept – Giangi says – was recognized by the German Design Council with the Iconic Award. It is an acknowledgment that celebrates our way of giving identity to objects, making them timeless”.

Chrissie

F.lli Razeto & Casareto, looking to the future

Looking ahead, F.lli Razeto & Casareto continues its path of expansion into new markets. “We are exploring Saudi Arabia – Andrea explains – where enormous resources are being invested in tourism and boating development. It’s an interesting market also because of the synergies with luxury construction, a field where our solutions naturally find applications”.

The company remains solid even in the face of fluctuations in the boating market. “We are seeing stabilization – Andrea notes – but not a decline. Larger yachts continue to receive significant orders, while the mid-range segment is the most sensitive. What concerns us more is the increasing weight of finance in the sector: too much speculative pressure can create risks, as history teaches”.

Balancing tradition, experimentation, and awareness, F.lli Razeto & Casareto thus reaffirms its role as an ambassador of Made in Italy worldwide, bringing to METSTRADE 2025 a vision that unites art, engineering, and responsibility.

At METS in Amsterdam, BAMAR showcased its latest innovations in sailing equipment, including the GFSI CTS, a forestay furler designed for No Torsion cables, and E-Vang, the prototype of a new range of electric vangs and cylinders currently under development as the company fine-tunes the final details.

“It was an excellent show. As always, METS proves to be the most important meeting point of the year for professionals in the marine accessories industry. Three intense days of meetings and connections with dealers and industry experts”, said Francesco Tamburini, BAMAR’s Sales Manager for Italy.

booth at mets

The booth saw a high turnout, featuring a selection from BAMAR‘s extensive product catalog. Many new projects were outlined for sail plans of upcoming yachts, set to hit the water between late 2025 and 2026. Among these are numerous exciting innovations for vessels ranging from 70 to 100 feet, from both Italian and international shipyards.

“Flush-deck” furlers for torsional stays

The new Bamar GFSI CTS series represents the evolution of the classic GFSI “flush-deck” furlers, previously designed exclusively for non-torsional structural stays with carbon or aluminum profiles for sail furling. This new version is designed for use with torsional structural stays, enabling direct furling of the sail. This approach allows for a significant reduction in weight. The stay tension can be adjusted in real-time thanks to the hydraulic cylinder integrated into the furler itself (custom stroke lengths, position sensors, and pressure sensors are available on request).

The sail tack can also be adjusted in real-time using a floating, sliding tack system (similar to a Cunningham), operated by a hydraulic cylinder installed below deck (optional upon request). The flange body and all deck-exposed components are made of polished stainless steel, while the gearbox body and the stay tensioning cylinder are crafted from high-strength aluminum alloy, anodized with a thick, black-pigmented coating.

Bamar E-VANG, the First Patented Electronic Vang

A groundbreaking innovation that the market has long awaited, the E-Vang ushers in a new era for onboard equipment. This patented product is set to replace bulky, heavy hydraulic systems, offering a sleeker, more efficient alternative. It can be customized and built with various dynamic pulls to meet diverse requirements. The bodies are made of anodized aluminum alloy, with special steel pins, while the electric motors are paired with planetary gearboxes to ensure maximum efficiency with minimal power consumption. Safety is also a key feature: the E-Vang is equipped with a load-sensing pin that “reads” external compression forces, allowing the vang to automatically adapt to adjustment needs. This prevents operational errors that could lead to breakages or overloads, a frequent issue, especially in challenging marine weather conditions.

BAMAR continues to innovate and design solutions that enhance onboard life by increasing safety and reducing wear and tear on equipment, which is constantly subjected to high loads and the harsh marine environment.

The company caters to the entire nautical sector, from equipment for 30-foot boats to far more ambitious projects, including some of the largest yachts in the world, which feature BAMAR’s high-precision mechanical engineering products.

The participation of F.lli Razeto e Casareto at the Metstrade in Amsterdam was harbinger of many significant innovations. The Sori-based company, specializing in the production of technical hardware for the boating sector and deck handles for boats, yachts, superyachts, and commercial ships for over a hundred years, stood out at the Dutch exhibition held from November 19 to 21. This is a sign of confirmation and forward-thinking, especially considering that the 36th Metstrade hosted over 1,500 exhibitors from 53 countries across 11 pavilions. For this reason, Metstrade is considered the world’s most important trade fair for accessories dedicated to the marine industry, exclusively catering to professionals in the sector.

Iros, the new lamp by Razeto e Casareto

F.lli Razeto e Casareto exhibited within the Italian Pavilion organized by Confindustria Nautica. Here, the Ligurian company showcased the Iros lamp to industry professionals, which was premiered worldwide at the latest edition of the Genoa Boat Show. “Let’s give light to our logo!” was the payoff that accompanied this piece of furniture in which design, craftsmanship and research merge, binders of the company’s tradition, summarized in the brand, present in relief on the lamp: it is the logo that has sailed the seas of the whole world for over a century stamped on all the products of F.lli Razeto e Casareto. Even the choice of the name Iros, a mirror image of Sori, underlines how deeply the roots of this company are linked to the territorial context where it was founded and still operates today, as a world leader in the production of locks and accessories for doors and on-board furniture.

razeto-e-casareto-iros

Technically, IROS is built in opal plexiglas as an unique piece made ad hoc for each customer by skilled artisan hands for the utmost attention to every detail. The brand, which can obviously be customized for every need, is always in extruded Plexiglas and reshaped with a CNC milling machine to be placed in relief on the surface of the lamp. The choice of warm white light of the model that will be exhibited at METS – measuring 40 cm on each side but can also be requested from 30 or 20 cm – wants to highlight the essence of the lamp, namely the minimal design and cubic shape that represent a painter’s blank canvas, ready to host other brands, logos or silhouettes of boats and highlight them. Possible upgrades include: USB battery, Bluetooth, RGB LED, Alexa, choice of other Plexiglas colors.

The Nauta Soft Handle

Another no less important novelty, which also marks the beginning of a new collaboration for F.lli Razeto and Casareto, is the launch of the Nauta Soft handle made in Sunbrella Heritage, in collaboration with Sunbrella and Rancati Srl. It is a fabric produced by Sunbrella, a sustainable fabric, composed of 50% recycled fibers, also resistant to UV rays to maintain its beauty even after long exposure to the sun. It is the ideal coating for all outdoor furniture projects, as it stands out for its natural side that gives it a unique charm.

Razeto-e-Casareto-nauta-soft

The idea of this prestigious partnership was born from Mauro Rancati, Sunbrella’s distributor in Italy but also a great lover of boating and the sea, who saw in the Nauta Soft series, a product by F.lli Razeto e Casareto designed specifically to be used on boats, yachts and sailing superyachts, the ideal point of contact between the two companies. This particular fabric handle is characterized by being soft to prevent the boat from skidding or in adverse weather conditions, from becoming a potential danger for those on board, but at the same time rigid enough to be operated, it is also ideal for racing boats. It can in fact be equipped with a lightweight lock, for thin doors, with an anti-vibration system patented by F.lli Razeto & Casareto in 1935, capable of maintaining full effectiveness even in the event of extreme stresses.

In the wake of this new prestigious partnership with Sunbrella, the Flush Lock for outdoor use was presented at METS, again in combination with the Sunbrella Heritage fabric. It is a universal closure, suitable for drawers and furniture of all kinds, which remains almost flush with the panel where it is installed. It opens in a very gentle motion (just press the button on one end or pull on the other) and offers a good grip for heavier drawers or doors. The use of Sunbrella Heritage, as mentioned resistant to UV rays, further increases both usability over time and safety.

Boat Builders Award

It should be noted that F.lli Razeto e Casareto, as was the case for the 2023 edition, is the technical sponsor of the Boat Builders Award, one of the most prestigious international awards, awarded to shipyards in the boating sector. Also this year, the Awards were created by Giangi Razeto, nominated in 2024 by the Design Classification “world’s 7th best designer (leading expert in furniture accessories, hardware and materials).

boat awardIn addition to being head of research and development of the Sori based company, Giangi Razeto is a listed contemporary artist. For the occasion he created trophies – a total of 16, 12 for the winners, 4 for the mentioned – which depict the Savoy Knot (eight knot figures), a knot always present on all sailing units, well known by all sailors.

Its shape represents unity, but it is also a symbol of the infinity towards which every seafarer ideally sweeps his gaze, and of the sometimes infinite complexity that involves the construction of a yacht – explains Razeto – The award is therefore a tribute to the marine industry, shipyards, companies in the entire supply chain and the infinite number of people who work every day to make the dreams of all boaters come true, building their boats.

The Boat Builders Award 2024 were made of recycled corn fiber, to highlight the utmost attention to the environment, using the 3D printer that represents one of the new frontiers of technology.

Leading Italian marine equipment manufacturer Quick Group presented a very clear message at its press conference held at Metstrade 2024 late last week. The message highlighted that the group is focused on further corporate growth, expansion in the US market, upgrades to European manufacturing capacity and its strong commitment to sustainability.

In respect of the US market, Quick Group acquired the Florida-based YMS (Yachting Marine Service) which it was said: “has been a major step as it has a strong presence in the marine market and it is becoming Quick Group’s key service hub in the US. Linking to this is the relocation of Quick Group’s US base from Baltimore to Fort Lauderdale.

Quick Group CEO Michele MarzuccoQuick Group’s CEO Michele Marzucco said: “We are about to inaugurate a new showroom in Fort Lauderdale aiming to further strengthen our presence in the US and get closer to our customers. Additionally in early 2025, we plan to relocate all operational activities currently based in Baltimore to Fort Lauderdale”.

This strategic move for the US market,” he added, “will take place in a facility that is 30% larger than the current one.” Furthermore, Quick Group now has a contract as a supplier of choice for the ABA, a recognition of quality and reliability of our work.

As regards corporate expansion Marzucco told The International Yachting Media: “Our expansion will continue, supported by our investors with further acquisitions. We are currently negotiating on a number of new purchases which may not all be completed but will see Quick grow more.”

While sustainability is a key policy being addressed across the whole group, it is closely linked with the upgrade of manufacturing capacity in Europe. In 2024 integrating the previous acquisitions of Sanguineti, Nemo and Xenta, has Marzucco commented: “has been a significant step in expanding our offering and enhancing internal synergies.”

Sanguineti has a new headquarters set up at Casarza Ligure which Marzucco said: “The new site has been designed to optimize energy consumption, reduce emissions and adopt sustainable solutions. Our commitment to R&D has introduced several innovations including Vistamore portholes. Airlock pantograph doors and Riviera anchoring systems.”

He explained: “A complete reorganisation of the commercial division for the OEM and Retail has been led by Andreas Karlsen, CCO of the group. The cross-brand sales network has proven the value of synergies driving key achievements.”

Quick Group Marco RodiTalking about Quick’s sustainability commitment, Marco Rodi, Chief Operating & Sustainability Officer said: “The beating heart of our strategy and vision is to reinforce our position as a sustainability leader in the nautical sector.”

In 2024 a number of steps have been taken and more are planned for 2025. Quick Group foresees its overall emissions to fall in 2025 following the decreases in 2023 and 2024 respectively of 12.5% and 6%. Also the group aims to transition to electricity that is 100% generated by renewable sources with guarantee of origin certificates.

Rodi described the new Sanguineti facility in Casarza Ligure as ‘a tangible example of our commitment. This plant was designed to optimize energy consumption and reduce emissions, incorporating innovative solutions that enhance both operational and production efficiency.

As part of its sustainability actions, Quick plans to extend the ISO 9001 certification to all group companies within 2025 and complete the process for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications in 2026. Also it plans to align with international standards including ISO 14064 and ISO 14067 for calculating the life cycle impact of our products.

Sustainable development goalsQuick Group places an importance on the standards not just as formal recognition but a firm commitment to responsible environmental management and worker safety. Also the group aims to minimize waste and promote the re-use and recycling of renewable resources.

Another key part of Quick’s plans seen as ‘a crucial element of our strategy is engaging with our suppliers.’ It wants to help make the whole supply chain more sustainable by encouraging suppliers to obtain environmental certifications and adopt more responsible practices.

The group sees sustainability as not only being environmental but also social. In 2024 the group enhanced its commitment to inclusion and diversity by implementing a new policy to ensure equal opportunities and a discrimination-free work environment.

For 2025,” Rodi indicated, “the aim is to extend the measurement of our carbon footprint to new product ranges, analysing their entire life cycle to identify further areas for improvement. In conclusion, developing a robust ESG programme goes beyond regulations. It is an ethical and strategic imperative: a value generation matter.“

Cleats and fairleads

Ubi Maior Italia’s retractable cleats are available in both anodized aluminum for marine environments and stainless steel. This range of products is customizable with the boat’s logo and, for the stainless steel cleats, also with the final finish. Designed with a modern, innovative style featuring squared, minimalist lines, Ubi Maior cleats come in various sizes, ranging from 35 to 43 centimeters in length, with load capacities from 3,300 kg to 7,500 kg.

Cleats are key accessories for any type of boat, as they allow the vessel to stay securely moored. This is why choosing high-quality products like those designed by Ubi Maior Italia is essential to ensure maximum safety and peace of mind at the dock.

In addition to the cleats, fairleads are equally important, as they allow ropes or cables to pass through, ensuring they are properly secured to the exterior of the boat during mooring maneuvers. Ubi Maior Italia also designs and manufactures a line of fairleads for mooring lines, specifically intended to optimize the load distribution of the lines on the mooring cleats. Ubi Maior’s fairleads are available in both anodized aluminum for marine environments and stainless steel and will also be exhibited at Metstrade in Amsterdam.

Backed by over 55 years of history, Besenzoni stood out at METS, held from November 15-17 in Amsterdam, in the field of luxury marine accessories with two distinct booths, further confirming its dedication to innovation and ongoing pursuit of high quality.

Founded in 1967 in Sarnico, on the shores of Lake Iseo, Besenzoni has established itself as a leader in the boating scene thanks to its exclusive philosophy, distinctive design and its ability to integrate both functionality and aesthetics within its products. Working with major brands in the industry, the company has developed a wide range of accessories, designs and patents that meet the highest standards of the boating scene.

Through its presence in two key locations, Besenzoni has captured the attention of boating enthusiasts and industry professionals alike. At the Unica stand in the Superyacht Pavilion, the focus was on seating, including the latest version of the P463 Shark, a carbon and teak manual ladder, as well as a gangway featuring the special eco-friendly Ropo Deck coating. On the other hand, the Oceano ladder, two new gangways from the BeElectric series, and many of the company’s other iconic products was exhibited at the Besenzoni stand in the Italian Pavilion.

This dual presence allowed Besenzoni to highlight its wide range of products: the beating heart of the Unica stand, however, was the new P 463 Shark pilot armchair. Its wide range of installation possibilities on manually sliding supports or on a special support surface make it adaptable to any space on large boats. The fixed backrest, the attractive design and the ergonomics studied precisely to guarantee unparalleled comfort make this armchair a must-have for long-distance cruising.

Besenzoni ROPE-DECKAlso on display was the gangway with a Rope Deck boardwalk made of 100% polyester monofilament cordage, which equals teak wood in strength, durability and beauty but represents a more ecological choice, under the company’s increasingly important policy of reducing its consumption of natural resources. A further confirmation of Besenzoni’s commitment toward the issue of environmental sustainability.

gangwayIn the Italian Pavilion, instead, the company exhibited a wide range of products, representing all the tradition and innovation that has been the lifeblood of the brand. New products on display included two electric gangways, one of which is an extension of the BeElectric range, which now ranges in length from 1 metre to 4.5 metres. The second was an innovative gangway designed specifically for outboard boats, whether newly built or already in use, thus highlighting the brand’s ongoing commitment to finding custom-made solutions to suit all owners’ needs.

The new ladder and platform in the Oceano series, however, was the undisputed star of METS 2023: primarily an embarkation/disembarkation and bathing ladder, it is designed to allow easy access to the quayside and the sea, guaranteeing simple, safe boarding.
