]]>Boot Düsseldorf 2021 doesn’t have to be done. All postponed to next year,
when, we hope, the pandemic will be over or at least it will have loosened its grip. For now, it is not possible: Covid has started to advance also in Germany, for this reason the Messe Düsseldorf, supporter of the exhibition, has decided postpone the event, thus failing to promise to hold the boat show from April 17-25.
Yes, because if on the one hand respecting the original dates of the show, which would start tomorrow, was considered an almost remote possibility, given the second wave of Coronavirus that was overwhelming all of Europe during last autumn, on the other the postponement to spring didn’t seem like a gamble.
In the meantime, however, the number of infections has risen again, hence the painful and final decision of the organizers to cut the head off by moving the event directly to January 22-30, 2022.

]]>A gift for the future, a forward-looking gift. As part of the Nobel Week Sanremo 2020, an
event dedicated to Nobel Prizes and relationships between Sanremo and Sweden, the Italian boatbuilder Amer Yachts presented the famous Swedish manufacturer of marine engines Volvo Penta with the results of an independent study on the reduction of its engines’ underwater noise.
Carried out last summer in collaboration with Istituto Catena, the research was received by Andrea Piccione, Volvo Penta Sales Manager for Italy while a copy will be make available by Volvo Penta Head Office in Sweden to allow the Scandinavian industry to analyze it and implement the technical data collected during the survey.
” We carried out our tests on a 100 meter seabed to detect the noise emissions – explained Barbara Amerio, CEO and Sustenaibility Director di Amer Yachts – Carried out in collaboration with Catena, the study is called ” A gift for the future” and is intended to give Volvo Penta the data so that it can acquire and elaborate them”.
” We thank Amer and Barbara for this gift that consolidates our partnership with the shipyard – claimed Andrea Piccione – All data will be used to improve and develop Volvo Penta products in the perspective of the group’s vision which is that of sustainability and lower environmental impact“.
The partnership between the Italian city and Sweden therefore continues with the ” A gift for the future” formula, a symbolic gift that represents tradition, innovation and commitment for an increasingly eco-friendly world.
Not surprisingly, during the Nobel Week events at Nobel House in Sanremo last year, Barbaria Amerio mentioned the foresight of Alfred Nobel, who committed his legacy to relaunch the future and leave a positive trace of hope in all those who believe in progress, culture and research.
Since then, due to the Covid-19 health emergency, 12 complicated months have passed and the participation of Amer Yachts in this prestigious event today takes on an ever deeper meaning. The Permare Group company, in fact, has decided to follow in the footsteps of the great Swedish scientist and make a gesture towards the future, an act of research donation to a strategic partner like Volvo Penta, which has always been particularly sensitive to the green deal issues.
Furthermore, during this edition of the Nobel Week, the company presented an important initiative that sees the support of Amer Yachts STEAMiamoci, a project promoted by Assolombarda to reduce the gender gap with the creation of four scholarships, sponsored by Confindustria Imperia and the Sanremo-based shipyard, for virtuous students who will choose STEAM subjects in scientific faculties. The call for scholarships for 2021 will be published on the Confindustria Imperia website.

]]>
The recent cancellation of the Cannes Yachting Festival after the recent surge in Covid-19 cases in France has unfortunately shown how digital tools are today the only possible, reliable and safe alternative to the traditional information- boat visit- purchase process.
It is therefore no surprise that the Virtual Boat Show by The International Yachting Media, launched just over two months ago, has already registered 250,000 visits.
” When we decided to create our virtual boat show, we wanted a system capable of offering much more than a virtual boat tour. We therefore built a portal capable of gathering, on a single web page, all the information necessary for the owner to make an informed choice: sea trials, publications about the model selected, virtual tours, videos and links to the shipyard’s web and social pages” –
states Luca D’Ambrosio, the creator of Virtual Boat Show –
“But it was not enough. We wanted the reader to have the possibility to book a confidentia, and therefore safe, visit on board the boat or, more simply, to come into direct contact with the shipyard, without any intermediation. A perfect system, both to enjoy a boat show with all the precautions needed and not to miss the novelties in the event that events are cancelled”.
The Virtual Boat Show is an innovative and international tool. Users, in fact, can read both the sea trials and most of content in their native language, clicking on the specific flag that gives access to the publications of the five international magazines of the group.
The Virtual Boat Show, whose navigation is fast and easy, is made up of six large sections: Motorboats, Maxi Rib, Sailing yachts, Catamarans, Inflatable boat and Boat Supplies. The latter gathers the world’s top nautical equipment manufacturers as well as some prestigious and equipped marinas.
Furthermore, this full digital immersion experience offers the opportunity to read, full-page and without advertising, the amazing sailboat, superyacht and Maxi Rib reviews published on The International Yachting Media Digest, as proof of the significant interconnection between the Virtual Boat Show and our browsable quarterly digital magazine.
In short, a system that can easily cope with the emergencies of the coming months because, we always like to remember that,” Buy a boat, the virus can’t swim“.
Not surprisingly, while the means of transportation, hotels and villages were deserted this summer, the sea was full of boats and yachting has fortunately registered yet another growth.

This week, the French government extended its ban on mass gatherings of over 5,000 people and, unfortunately, the French Boat Show, with its 30,000 visitors, was fully within this range.
The decision is due and responsible, considering that the only Cannes Yachting Festival operators are more than 3,000. The cancellation of the event falls within the area of responsibility of the Prefect of Cannes, who was rightly adamant about this decision.
In the next hours, an official press release will be issued by Red Exhibitions, the world’s leading company in the organization of trade fairs which, every year, organizes events with over 7 million visitors all over the world.
The next international boat show scheduled is that of Genoa which, also thanks to its structure, is s for now confirmed, supported by the last ministerial decree that, while on the one hand has closed discos, on the other has confirmed the possibility of holding trade fairs.
The Genoa Boat Show is scheduled to take place from Thursday 1 to Tuesday 6 October 2020.
To see what would have been exhibited at Cannes Yachting Festival 2020, however, there is a simple, fast and safe way: just click on the following link and discover the most interesting novelties of the years.
Guide to International Boat Shows
Alternatively, to enjoy a more complete experience, you can visit the Virtual Boat Show of The International Yachting Media which, in addition to being free, also offers the possibility to visit boats, contact the shipyards and book your visit or sea trial in total safety.
This is certainly the system that will be used the most in the near future to choose a boat.
The Virtual Boat Show is a content aggregator which collects all the information, some in absolute preview, about the models built by the world’s best boat manufacturers. Sea trials, virtual tours, boat videos and the best shots are all concentrated in the virtual boat show.

]]>The event, which launches the “boat shows season”,
in fact, will be held from September 8th to 13th and will fully comply with the protective measures that UNIMEV, the French professional federation of the events industry, will submit to the French government to restrict the spread of Coronavirus. The aim is to open the Yachting Festival 2020 in such a way as to allow the event to be held in the best possible conditions and in full compliance with the protection of exhibitors and visitors.
Despite the closure of offices due to lockdown, the staff of the Cannes Yachting Festival, thanks to the implementation of new solutions internationally developed by Reed Exhibitions, has managed to adapt its own organization to serenely prepare the 43rd edition. All collaborators, both in France and abroad, are working remotely and with great enthusiasm, as confirmed by the number and extent of the novelties of the next edition.
Among them, the Quai Saint Pierre at Vieux Port will gather all the fast day boats of the show. The Quai Max Lauberf, instead, has been redesigned to house a new marina which will welcome motor-powered multihulls. Out of the water, the area dedicated to inboards and outboards which was launched last year has been redesigned to offer greater visibility and comfort to engine manufacturers for small and medium-sized units.
The Luxury Gallery, although the current context does not allow to know its content and definitive form in details, will be dedicated to luxury, crafts and lifestyle within a new layout. At Port Canto, the Sailing Area has been designed with the approximately 110 boats registered to date, sixty of which exceed 15 m.
The 6th Concours d’Elegance, exclusively for exhibitors, motor boats and day boats of less than 12 metres, will be held on Saturday September 12th.
The sea access between the two ports has been increased and will benefit from enhanced signage. In addition, a new catering area is planned.
” Many customers with whom I have spoken are hoping that the Yachting Festival can be the light at the end of the tunnel. And even if there are still many steps to take before opening this year’s Yachting Festival, this hope is a goal for us. Our teams are doing everything possible to accommodate customers and provide them with the necessary flexibility while ensuring that work schedules are respected, thereby enabling everything to be operational in due course. We have set up a team responsible for adapting the new health standards to the festival and will deploy all necessary means for their implementation”,
– says Show Director Sylvie Ernoult –
” We wish courage and energy to all our exhibitors, partners and service providers in this unprecedented time! The Festival’s team and I look forward to finding them and welcoming them to Cannes on September.”
A great news that makes us happy.
However, the only discordant note comes from a phrase contained in the press release, with which the organization claims that the Cannes Yachting Festival is the largest in-water boat show in Europe.
We already dealt with this issue some years ago, the Cannes organization is not in fact new to this claim which is wrong. Europe’s largest boat show is always the Genoa International Boat Show which, for the record, boasts an exhibition area of 199,457 square meters (without considering the floors of pavilion B). Cannes Yachting Festival, instead, has an exhibition area of 178,726 square meters, all in-water areas included.

]]>The post Luca D’Ambrosio on TG2 Italia: boat holidays are cheap and safe appeared first on Yachting News.
]]>Boat holidays, safe and cheap holidays. That’s the topic dealt
by our Editor in Chief Luca D’Ambrosio, interviewed by Tg2 Italia during the episode of May 8th in which there was talk of tourism not only from a work-related point of view but also in terms of tourist behaviour in this time of restrictions.
Luca D’Ambroio strongly emphasized the need to dispel, once and for all, the myth that having a boat or taking a boat holiday is something exclusively reserved for the wealthiest people. ” There are boats for all budgets, from the cheapest to the most luxurious ones. Buying a used 8-9 meter boat, which is the best option for a 4-people holiday, is equivalent to purchasing a medium-sized car – D’Ambrosio explained – If, in addition to summer holidays, we plan to use the boat also for our weekends on board, at the end of the year, we will realize that we have spent less than we would have paid for a conventional holiday”.
If they don’t choose a very large or luxurious boat, families can spend from 2 to 5 thousand euros for a couple of weeks on board their own boat or a charter one.
Mr. D’Ambrosio, at the helm of The International Yachting Media for 7 years, has remembered that there is also another very cheap solution to spend holidays at sea: boat camping which, with a certain certain dose of spirit of adaptation, can make families enjoy the most beautiful places of the world at very low costs.
Another concept stressed by Luca D’Ambrosio is that the boat is the safest place to spend time. If the the sea water – and virologists all agree on this – is able to cancel the spread of the virus, then it is easy to understand how a boat holiday is absolutely safe.
During the episode, the talk also focused on the possible risk of crowding in the ports. The matter, according to our Editori in Chief, is already solved: “This phenomenon does not exist in Italy since the country has 7,500 kilometers of coastlines and almost a thousand port facilities. As a result, it will have no particular problems in distributing tourists and therefore to manage any gatherings of people “.
Furthermore,
as for the costs, most Italian marinas offer very competitive fees: for a 8/10-meter boat, for example, they range from 30 to 50 euros per day. Without forgetting that the marinas are already preparing to comply with the rules of social distancing and sanitation of common areas.
In short, boat holidays are not only the cheapest but also the safest holiday option today. And, with this, any taboo is dispelled.
Tg2 Italia is television column conducted by Chiara Lico, editor in chief Mario Scelba.
