What is Guidilo?

Guidilo is an on-line community that connects travelers from all around the world with local people to share their hobbies and interests in a unique way that goes beyond the traditional tourist concept. It is a marketplace where you can find, book and also offer your own experiences and unique activities. On the Guidilo website you will find the following terms:

Local = a local resident, a kind of “guide“, who knows very well his city and wants to show the city’s charm and uniqueness to others – the travelers. He also has an interesting hobby, passion or talent that he doesn’t want to keep only to himself but wants to share it.

Traveler = a visitor of the city who wants to learn something different, discover something new and experience the city from a different perspective – through the eyes of local people, in a friendly company and without traditional tourist habits.

Experience = an activity, action, hobby that a local person wants to share with a Traveler – that could include taking him to his favorite café where they make the best coffee in town, taking him to see a concert or a sport match, recommend bargain stores or simply go out partying. It is all about having fun in a good company...

What is the story behind the name Guidilo?

The name Guidilo comes originally from the Esperanto language from the word “gvidilo“ which means “guide“. In order to simplify the pronunciation, to make it easier to remember and to specify our services we decided to connect the English words Guide and Local and thus our name Guidilo was created.

Guidilo wants to highlight the local atmosphere and local people, passionate about their home town, and to transform any moment into an unforgottable and inspiring experience.

Who can join Guidilo as a Local and why?

Guidilo gives anybody who has, knows or is familiar with anything interesting the chance to publish his activity on our website, to offer his knowledge, hobby, passion and skill, to meet new people and get to know different cultures and to share his experience with others.

What kind of experience can I publish?

We recommend you to start thinking of topics you have a good knowledge of or a skill you would like to share with others. Get inspired by your own hobbies, your favorite place in your neighborhood or anything you usually like to do with your friends. The possibilities are limitless, just use your creativity and imagination. If you need help, please let us know!

If I suggest an experience, is it going to be published on Guidilo.com directly?

Your experience will not be published until we approve it. Our team will evaluate each suggested experience on individual basis taking into account the Ethic code compliance and our intention for authenticity. As soon as we receive your completed form you will be contacted to clarify any details and to discuss future steps.

What type of information has to be included in my profile?

All the information on your profile has to be up-to-date! Especially your contact information that will be available to the Traveler (after he has been charged for the booking) to be able to contact you in case of any questions or late changes.

Additionally, you need to include details about yourself, why they should choose your experience (what do you offer, why is this activity unique), about the meeting point (e.g. meeting at the Traveler´s hotel), any other important information (e.g. appropriate clothing, comfortable shoes) and other details such as who is the experience suitable for, how physically demanding it is etc.

You can choose the name of the activity, the duration, number of participants and price using a scroll down menu on our website. Our webpages have been designed to be user-friendly and save you the time you can use to prepare a nice description of your experience.

How can I attract the maximum of Travelers?

Most importantly, you need to create an interesting profile, pick a catchy name for your experience, use appropriate and good quality pictures, descriptions without grammar errors and a bit of personal touch. The better the profile, the more potential clients you’ll attract. We will be happy to help you with text editing, spelling and grammar checks, images selection and any other query.

I don’t have any suitable pictures available. Can you help me?

Of course! We can find a good photographer to take the pictures for you. Just contact us and we will arrange a session for a small fee on the date convenient for both of you.

Can I modify / add some information to my profile?

All your personal details can be modified at any time after you sign into your account. It is important all information on your profile is up-to-date.

What duration should the experience have?

There is no correct answer for that. The experience can last an hour or more or even a whole day. It all depends on the type of experience you are offering and your opinion about what you think could be way too exhausting for you and your clients.

A Traveler just booked my experience. What do I do now?

It is required you contact the Traveler no later than 48 hours after the booking is confirmed in order to discuss details and conditions (weather conditions, meeting point etc.). In the reservation confirmation you will see a sample of a possible response to the client. We also recommend you to contact the Traveler 2 or 3 days prior to his arrival to remind him and to confirm you are expecting him.

All communication should be done through the mailing tool on our website. It is easy to follow and, in case of any misunderstanding, the sent messages can be easily retreived.

Which is the most convenient meeting point?

It could be the hotel where the Traveler is staying or the point where the experience starts or any other place convenient for both.

What should I do when the Traveler wants to modify his reservation?

Anything can happen, unexpected events might force the Traveler to ask for a modification of his reservation. When this happens, please let us know and we will issue an updated reservation confirmation. This measure protects both parties in case of any claim. If the Traveler asks you to cancel his booking, please look for other alternatives first (new dates, different meeting point etc.). Please contact us to cancel a booking.

Is there a registration fee?

Registration and publishing of your profile and activities are completely free of charge! Guidilo takes a commission of 20% for each completed experience, booked through guidilo.com, so that you receive 80% of the price paid by the Traveler. Please take this into account when setting up the cost of your experience. Guidilo will do all the marketing and advertising of your experiences to attract the maximum number of clients. The more attractive profile you have, the easier it will be for us.

How do I calculate the price?

You decide the cost of your experience. There are several ways. You can either calculate your expected expenses (entry tickets, travel expenses, food, artistic materials etc.) and add the profit you would like to make or if someone else is already offering the same type of experience, set up a similar price (and add a special “something“ that will make the Traveler choose your experience instead) or simply think of a fair price-quality relation.
To avoid any misunderstanding, it is recommended to list exactly what is and is not included in the price of the experience, e.g. The price includes the transportation by car to Beroun and refreshments. The entry ticket to the museum is not included in the price (100 CZK per person, to be paid at the entrance). The final price should be profitable for you and affordable for the Traveler.

When and how do I get paid?

We will transfer your money (less 20% commission) into your bank account (the account number you set up in your profile) no later than 24 hours after the experience is completed. All past, present and future experiences and their actual status can be found on your profile in a simple chart.

I haven’t received any reply from you, what should I do?

If you do not receive a reply within 48 hours of your inquiry, please contact us again – using the contact form on our website, by email, phone or through the social networks. We always try our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
