January events in Prague
Three Kings' Parade
6 January 2017, various locations
The Three Kings' Day (also known as Twelfth Night of Christmas) marks the formal end of the Christmas season with caroling, bell ringing and the distributing of gifts to the poor. So if you're in the Czech Republic on this day and bump into Kaspar, Melichar and Balthasar, spare them a coin or two, it's a local tradition that goes back a long way and the money is going to good causes.

Grand Restaurant Festival
15 January – 28 February 2017, selected restaurants
This year's motto "Baroque on your plate" will accompany the 8th year of the popular gastro-feast for all foodies and let you sample all the specialties of the best and most interesting Prague restaurants at discounted festival prices (degustation menu prices will range from 250 CZK to 600 CZK).

Green Day Concert

The American punk rock band returns to Prague again! Green Day announced the initial dates for their 2017 tour in support of their new album, "Revolution Radio."

ONE WORLD – International human rights documentary film festival

The One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival is currently the largest human rights film festival in the world. More than 100,000 viewers attend it every year. All movies are shown either in English or with English subtitles.

Thomas Andres & MODERN TALKING band
18 March 2017, Forum Karlín (Prague 8)
Probably the most recognized name in 80's music returns to Prague again! Modern Talking generated many super hits in the 80s, including "Cheri, Cheri Lady", "Brother Louie" and the unforgettable "You're My Heart, You're My Soul". Let's get back in time and dance the night away to their nostalgic New Wave music!

Food Truck Show
18 March 2017, Prague Exhibition Grounds (Prague 7)
The biggest food truck rally in the Czech Republic comes back to Prague! You'll be able not only to taste various food trucks specialties, but also appreciate the creativity with which these trucks are built. In addition to classic food trucks from Hungary, Belgium, Slovakia, Italy and Poland, there will be displayed also refreshment tricycle, rickshaws, trailers, giant barbecues and field kitchens.

International Film Festival Prague – FEBIOFEST
23 – 31 March 2017, Cinestar Cinema Anděl (Prague 5)
The International Film Festival brings to Czech audiences the best films of the last year and discovers new territories and unknown filmmakers, with special sections dedicated to gay and lesbian cinema, children's films and even experimental films.

Amy Macdonald Concert

Famous Scottish singer & songwriter, Amy Elizabeth Macdonald – "the best international Rock/Pop Female", returns to Prague again!

Prague Easter Markets
1 – 17 April 2017, various venues
Favorite Prague Easter Markets take place at the Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square, Peace Square or Republic Square. Wooden huts display local handicrafts and all manner of food and drink. Markets are open daily.

Sportisimo Prague Half Marathon
1 April 2017, Rudolfinum (Prague 1)
Enjoy a course with incomparable scenery in the heart of historic Prague that follows along the Vltava river and crisscrosses five beautiful bridges. Start the season with one of the biggest running events in the Central Europe!

Náplavka Street Food

The aim of the festival is to introduce the latest trends in the "street food" gastronomy and give you an opportunity to taste various dishes from all around the world and introduce you to different cultures & tastes.

Witches' Night (Pálení Čarodějnic, Burning of Witches)

While it may not sound like it, the Witches' Night (the counterpoint to Halloween) is pretty much fun. The highlight of the celebration is usually the burning of an effigy of the Winter Witch, who has brought cold and fallowness. Prague Spring International Music Festival

For more than 70 years the Prague Spring Festival has ranked among the top cultural events in the Czech Republic. Concerts and performances held within the festival are staged throughout the whole of Prague, so apart from excellent music presentations you can relish the historical backdrops of monasteries, churches and museums.

Prague Food Festival
26 – 28 May 2017, Prague Castle (Prague 1)
Culinary event of the year with a wise motto: No Dumb Eating, Drinking or Living! Enjoy this three-day festival in the Royal Gardens of the Prague Castle, by tasting wonderful dishes and get to know local chefs along with the top restaurants and drink producers.

Prague Drinks Wine
2 – 3 June 2017, New Town Hall (Prague 2)
Come to the historical buildings of New Town Hall to taste more than 400 different wines produced by small family wineries and representing a number of wine regions of Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia and Italy. Naturally, winemakers from Moravia will be also there.

The Color Run

A five kilometers paint race that is inspired by the Hindu festival of Holi. Make the happiest 5k's on the planet, run, walk, dance or skip, fling color, and have a whole lot of fun!

Hans Zimmer Concert
4 June 2017, O2 Arena (Prague 9)
Legendary film music composer Hans Zimmer arrives back to Prague. The Academy Award-winning music composer will perform in O2 arena, accompanied by The Czech National Symphony Orchestra and a choir.

Prague Museum Night
10 June 2017, various venues
This popular cultural event, promoting activities of museums and galleries, has been offering a possibility to visit Prague cultural heritage sites at night since 2004. Awesome interiors, free entrance, transport by special buses, opening times from 7.00 pm till 1.00 am.

United Islands of Prague
22 – 25 June 2017, various venues
The United Islands Festival in Prague is a celebration of world music. The main streams include rock, pop, indie, electronic, world, folk & jazz, as well as new music trends and experiments. The event is traditionally held in Prague's Kampa and on Střelecký and Slovanský islands out in the open, where the admission is free every year.

Summer Shakespeare Festival

The summer Shakespeare festival is Europe's oldest and biggest open-air theatrical event focused on presenting the works of William Shakespeare.

July events in Prague
Guns N' Roses Concert
4 July 2017, Letňany Airport (Prague 18)
The American hard rock band announced to extend their Not In This Lifetime Tour and Prague will be not missed. The show takes place on American Independence Day. Come to celebrate with them!

Bohemia Jazz Fest

The largest free music festival in Europe draws upwards of 80,000 visitors every year. It has become a summer ritual with jazz fans from all over Central Europe to see and hear the world's greatest jazz performers – completely free! In addition to jazz, there will also be a thrilling blend of blues, funk and world music.

French Market on Kampa
Mid July, date is not settled yet
The annual traditional French Market- Le Marché du 14 Juillet, will be traditionally held on Kampa Island. It's a perfect place where you can sit with friends and with a glass of good wine and a dish of something special to go with it, here under the trees in the city center, near the Charles Bridge.

August events in Prague
Prague Pride
Mid August, date is not settled yet
Prague Pride is the biggest LGBT festival in Central Europe that ends each year with a colorful pride march in Prague city center.

Letní Letná – XIV. International Festival of New Circus and Theatre
17 August – 3 September 2017, Letná (Prague 7)
Letní Letná is an international encounter of new circus and theatre, presenting the best new circus companies from around the world. The program includes street art and open air shows, photographic exhibitions, workshops of new circus and much more!

Robbie Williams Concert
19 August 2017, Letňany Airport (Prague 18)
The ex-member of Take That is coming to Prague to introduce his newest album, Heavy Entertainment Show, with an English synthpop duo – Erasure.

September events in Prague
Dvořák Prague Festival
7 – 23 September 2017, various venues
This international music festival is not only a celebration of the musical genius of Antonín Dvořák, the world's most acclaimed Czech composer, but also an important social event. It is a showcase of outstanding performers, conductors and world famous orchestras and chamber ensembles who congregate in Prague to present Dvořák's music as well as works by other celebrated composers to the international audience of the Czech capital.

Prague Grand Prix
9 September 2017, Prague city center
The Prague Grand Prix is a charming evening race with a mysterious atmosphere in the historical Prague city center. During the first weekend of September Prague, streets are full of thousands of runners and spectators alongside the race course.

9 – 10 September 2017, Prague Exhibition Grounds
Burgerfest is a unique two-day food and cultural festival regularly running under the auspices of the US Embassy and Prague 7 and is currently the largest Burgers festival in Central Europe. It represents the culinary arts of fine restaurants not only in Prague but also from the entire Czech Republic, which is a burger and BBQ own topics.

October events in Prague
Signal Festival
12 – 15 October 2017, various venues
Videomapping, site-specific projections, interactive and light installations. It's been four years since SIGNAL brought those to lit up Prague for the first time. Since then the new trends in connecting creativity, new technologies and public space are regularly presented in the streets of the city.

26 – 30 October 2017, Prague Exhibition Grounds
Designblok is one of the largest and most prestigious events of its kind in Central Europe and Prague offers a good example of it to other European cities. This exhibition offers a fashion show, displays of jewelry, clothing, furniture, home furnishings, lighting, and industrial and utilitarian design from top Czech designers.

Zombie Night Run
29 October 2017, Vítkov Hill (Prague 3)
The creepiest run in the Czech Republic. Run a five kilometer course within the dangerous area, scrambling up and down the Vítkov hill. Soon after undead and alive cross the finish line, they will get the medal. Starting fee from 600 CZK (approx. 22 EUR), a portion of the fees goes to charity.

October means also Halloween. Czech Republic don't really celebrate Halloween like people do in the US with pumpkin carving and trick-or-treating, but this yearly celebration has continued to gain in popularity among Czechs.

November events in Prague
All Saints' Day (Czech: Dušičky; November 2)
The day of remembrance for friends and loved ones who have passed away. If there's one day in the year when you should visit cemeteries and pray for deceased relatives, is it. Whole families turn out to light candles, lay wreaths, remember and pray. The best place to go to is the enormous Olšany Cemetery.

St. Martin's Day (November 11)
At 11 am sharp on November 11, almost every winery and restaurant in the Czech Republic opens the first wines (young wines) that are produced that year. This celebration is very similar to the one in France called the French Beaujolais Noveau. And this day has always been associated also with the first snow reflected in the popular saying "St. Martin arrives on a white horse"

Day of the Struggle for Liberty & Democracy (November 17 – public holiday)
Commemorating the student demonstration against Nazi occupation in 1939, and the demonstration in 1989 that started the Velvet Revolution. If you're looking for more information about this day, visit the Communism Museum and the Monument to Jan Palach and Jan Zajíc.

Christmas Markets
25 November – 6 January 2017, various venues
The opening of the Prague Christmas Markets, usually on Saturday before the first Advent, is an impressive event, both for Prague inhabitants and tourists from Europe and abroad.

December events in Prague
St. Nicholas Day
The charming tradition of St. Nicholas marks the start of Christmas for many Czech people and it's a popular occasion for children. Good children receive treats – candies, cookies, apples and nuts, while naughty children receive lumps of coal. If you're on the streets of Prague on 5 December, you may run into a trio of strange characters: St. Nicholas (Czech: Mikuláš), the Angel (Czech: Anděl) – who represents Good, and the Devil (Czech: Čert), who represents Evil.
